MARK Green got a dose of the rock-star lifestyle Saturday as he mingled
backstage at the U2 concert at Madison Square Garden. The mayoral
hopeful was trying to find the men's room when a giggling reveler sent him
into one of the dressing rooms. Green and his escort of two NYPD
detectives were immediately engulfed by a cloud of pot smoke, but he
forged ahead anyway. Upon leaving, one detective muttered, "It's like an
opium den in there!" We're sure it's just coincidence that a mass e-mail
Green's people sent out two days later gave the wrong date for Election
Day.

I already posted that! Oh well. Not that there's anything wrong with posts that smoke pot, but this board is getting a little too hazy.

hmm......as for the pot itself, that's what happens when you let famous people in.

I bet it was Adam!
hehehe, hey they've got to have some fun too!
And last night on Dave, I thought Bono looked as if had smoked a little somethin' too!

Don't flame me but my sister thinks Bono does coke the way he is always touching his nose and if you watch Letterman he did it twice. To each his own.

He does that rubbing his nose thing all the time. I don't think there has been an interview in the last year where he wasn't doing that and/or biting on his fingers. I think he does it because of his allergies and/or out of habit. Also, those are common movements for someone who has recently quit smoking.

Anyway, he's always been a live-wire, even as a child. Can you imagine how hyper he'd be on cocaine? He'd be bouncing off the walls!

It's so easy for just one person to have a puff in the dressing room and because of the powerful aroma, it seems like everyone's into it. So who can tell? I'd reckon the band wouldn't hit it that much, if at all when they are working. Someone yesterday told me the list of shows they had seen and were seeing soon, ALL U2!!! plus the excitement about Letterman and it made me realise just how hard that band is working. I'm impressed. So I don't think they'd have time for too much except beauty sleep at the moment.
I hope the candidate didn't inhale. It's another case of an appropraite surname..Mr Green!!! lmao

PS :I totally agree with utah about Bono rubbing his face. If you are sensitive to something, the itch in your nose, mouth and ears can drive you bats some days.I fully sympathise if that's the case.

U2SJ, sorry if I sound all fashioned, but even with U2, I cannot seem to justify someone that smokes pot on a regular basis. I mean, not that I'm a saint or anything, but what's the point?.

I do agree with you. I think it is do to his giving up smoking and just nerves. On stage in front of us Bono is in his element but in interviews he is on the spot with all attention on him and it could be nerves.
Thanks for not flaming me.

Well, just because when I sit in a chair at school I usually keep moving, either drumming my fingers, tapping my foot, moving my knee, something fidgety, its completely normal. I mean its not like everyones going to assume Im on something. I think we should all leave Bono alone, remember, its getting colder out now, perhaps hes got a cold or something?

Some people relax with a drink. Some relax with a joint. The only difference is that one is illegal but relatively benign, and the other is legal but can be a deadly addiction. I'll take the illegal one anyday.

Plus, just because there's pot smoke backstage doesn't mean it's a band member, and even if it were, doesn't mean they are regular users. Bono's drinking is far more worrisome to me than a little weed.

U2@NYC- I wouldn't think or hope that Bono and the boys smoke on a daily basis, but if they do light up every now and then, IMO like joyfulgirl sais, pot and alcohol are equal in their power to be very very bad habits...
And it probably wasn't coming from U2 anyways!

Ok, i disagree with you. True, alcohol is legal and drugs are not.
So? Why should any of those be taken lightly? Both can kill people. I would never try drugs-i was never interested into them and their effects on people are just to scary. I can have a good time without them anytime with my friends and my family. I don't think i even know a single person who would be into drugs.
(i can't even get a sip of wine down my throat at birthdays or holidays-i can't stand the taste of alcohol. also, i don't smoke cigarettes-never been interested into them, plus they smell real bad. not to mention-why damage my health with it?)

Call me old-fashioned, but i would be highly dissapointed if U2 members did it.

And i don't accept the "people don't do it regularly, so it's ok" attitude. I can understand if a person tries drugs ONCE out of curiosity, but anything above that is beyond me. Also, there's a difference between getting drunk regularly and drinking, say, a glass or two at a meal.

"The only difference is that one is illegal but relatively benign"

Really, so pot is benign? Oh, come on. Give me a break. That was probably the most nonsense I have read in a long time.

Ok, so from now on I will drop my glass of wine and smoke a joint.

Such nonsense.

The band is not the only four people backstage dudes.

Let me just say that I was in the heart the heart that night and there were people lighting up in there.

Relatively benign is what I said, as compared with alcohol. That is my informed opinion as well as my direct experience. You are welcome to yours as well and I certainly wasn't suggesting that everyone needs to smoke pot--you didn't have to be sarcastic. Smoke in one's lungs is never a good idea, but marijuana is an herb with medicinal value and, like anything, is best used in moderation if one desires to use it at all. I can't drink wine because I'm allergic to the sulfites and I hate the way alcohol makes me feel anyway. But a little weed here and there is nice for me.

U2girl > I'd like to see any stats you might know about concerning how many deaths are reported each year from smoking marijuana alone. It's an herb and when used responsibly, is far less dangerous than alcohol or much of what exists in the average American medicine cabinet, for that matter. Of course it's not for everyone, but I don't understand why people get so freaked out about it.

Also, my best friend is dying of cancer. The meds they put him on were killing him faster. Now he's off the meds and using marijuana for pain and is doing much better.

But hey, I have no attachment to convincing anybody of anything. To each his own.

Joyful girl, they also say that a little bit of wine every day is good for your health. The difference? One is legal and the other one is not. And, gee, I wonder why.

And I was sarcastic because of the way your post is written. I have no way of guessing information that it is not posted.

I have always wondered why, too. I guess you have a lot more confidence in the integrity our law-makers than I do. That's cool.

I don't know what that means. That's cool, too.
