What I like about this site is that there are so many different points of view. It's a huge market place of ideas. I like to read both the conservative and liberal stuff. I love to listen to other people's views and the more different than mine the better because I learn something. I majored in political science, and I'm trying finish my degree while I support my son. This means you spend years reading and building arguments based on facts. If your argument is good you get an A in the course. It's basically getting a degree in how to be a good bullshit artist. My son the engineering major agrees. He says that he is getting a real useful degree and that political science isn't a science. All that math that he is taking must have messed up his brain. Math is worse than drugs.

I think some of you would be amused if you watched me read peoples posts, sit here and fume, sometimes even yell at the computer, type out an infuriated response, calm down, erase that response, and write something a bit more rational.

I realize that even though I will probably never meet any of you, that we are all just online entities, that behind the blue font there are in fact people with feelings that need to be respected. When online, it's tempting to be a little nastier than one would be in person, but I refuse to succumb to that temptation, and be as respectful online as I would be with any of you one on one.

I like being pushed to think about issues, and I like pushing other people as well. Naturally I'd love to convert you all to my point of view and be ardent Democrats, but what fun would that be?

You don't let us. When Anna arrives, it's time to separate the men from the boys and the women from the girls. You get at the heart of a matter. You're an absolute delight.

Your heart is kind and I can tell that even when steam is coming out of your ears.

It's difficult for me to avoid bad thinking - in general, I'm fairly narcissistic and a bit of a sociopath. It's either my way or you get hunted down. I can pretend to have an interest in another person, but I don't really feel it.
I once had someone say, sarcastically, "Because it's all about YOU." I had to laugh and concede the point. I do have that attitude that it is all about me. I'm not sure I like it, but there it is. I don't know how to change it, or if it can be changed, at all. Would I like to be kinder and nicer to other people? Certainly. But not if it means I have to give up what makes me feel good. And sometimes, unfortunately, it's manipulating others into doing what I want them to do, when I want them to do it, so I don't have to.
