Any future presidents?

Let's take a beak from the present election and talk about future elections. Anyone here ever or interested in running for office? Any office, anyone here interested in getting into politics themselves? Have you started taking steps?

Personally I always thought I'd be a good president but a shitty politician, so I really don't see myself holding office anytime soon. Although I don't ever rule it out, I think I would like to run for local politics someday. I would love to make a change from that type of position.

So anyone else interested?

Definitely not. In fact, the one question my wife asked me before we got married was "do you plan on running for office?"

Since the president is intertwined with politics, I would be a better benevolent dictator.

I may do it.

My dad did it (town level).

I may be interested in something on the state level, but I know if I ever wanted to go bigger, that I would always have this horrible skeleton in the closet called interference.com!

Not a chance. I wouldn't rule out working behind the scenes to help someone good get elected, but I'm not a good front person.

I'm not a part of the "millionaire's club." So, that's leave me out of running for prez.

I've always been interested in politics, I remember watching the Premier's debates when I was 14 in 1999.

The big problem is that unless you're running for city council, then you need to be a member of a mainstream party or you haven't got a hope in hell. I wouldn't join the Conservatives because I'm not right-wing at all, I wouldn't join the Liberals because I don't like how it's an "old boys club" (and I really don't like Paul Martin). The only parties I'd consider joining would be the NDP (I do lean towards Socialism), but I loathe Jack Layton and a lot of NDP policies towards Quebec.

I am thinking of joining the Liberal party on the provincial level, however, and possibly on the federal level once Paul Martin is gone.

If I ever run for office it will be as a Liberal.

I'm not running for dogcatcher. I can imagine it now, my opponent would claim I wanted to steal every dog in the neighborhood and then beat the hell out of me. After all it's a Republican neighborhood.

My pleasure, passion, and obsession (other than U2 of course) is politics. My goal is to be a presidential advisor, but not president. I have not ruled out public office, however.

I feel so old.

Anyway, no, politics are not for me because I don't feel the urge to struggle for power, and I believe that it is precisely this struggle for power that defines politicians and politics as a whole.

Life is too short for politics.

Most politicians probably start out with good intentions, but indeed the quest for power so twists their character that they become monsters. I think Nixon was only the most glaring example.

Not all, of course. But it's a tough game that I wouldn't even get into.
