Another frustrating thing is that the average income of our church is one of the richest in virginia, but per person the giving is PITIFUL. of 129 disciple of christ churches in virginia, ours is 124 when it comes to giving. even the poor black and appalachain churches give more than ours. and now they want to save more money by driving my family into poverty. this is whats driving me nuts, this "republican" mindset of the dinosaurs that are in power.

Um, christianity is dead, and it's dead because of events like this. Last night I was watching TBN because I'm living with my overt conservative grandparents. the program was all about government trying to silence conservative churches. The conservative heart is led by fear. How unfortunate and sad. While it is so easy, and understandable, to say fuck them, perhaps a sprinkle of love will help. Offerings of grace are so unsettling to people. Love your enemies, I'm reminded daily. I really despise that sermom on the mount sometimes. Nevertheless I see the benefits. How ironic, I'm listening to Love and Peace right now. I know it's not fair what these conservatives are trying to do, but think of the opportunity you've been given to show love to those who certainly haven't acted loveable.
Of course if this is something you can't do now, it's completely understandable. It's okay to be very angry right now. I wish you all the best.

Conservatives are lead by fear, as someone else said.

From another PK, I'm sorry to say that I've been in your situation. Just like any other institution, churches are full of imperfect people with misguided schemes. I hope that the situation is not as bad as it appears, and that it doesn't get any worse. You and your family will be in my prayers. It's a shame to see God's people stoop to such matters.

Fortunately, I beg to differ. While it's true that some churches around the country are choking out God with their selfish desires, many others are rising up. The younger generation has taken a new, relevent look at a personal relationship with God, and I'm so thankful to see the ways in which this refreshing outlook is changing Christianity.

The truth is that many of these problematic churches are run by those with old traditions, and as harsh as this sounds, their philosophies will die out with them. I'm optimistic about the future of my faith and I'm encouraged by the work of God among the Church.

I'm truly sorry to hear that.

Demo, I wouldn't normally say something like this, but I do know what you're going through. I would get into more details, but there are just certain things I won't say about the church in a public forum. This is a horrible ordeal to have to handle at this age. If you need to vent, rant, fume, cry, share stories or just a little advice on how to deal with this, feel free to email: lineofgrace@hotmail.com

You seriously need to talk with someone about this. I'm incredibly thankful for those who were there for me in my situation. Don't let these emotions build inside you without a healthy outlet.

(((U2democrat)))

I am so sorry to find out about your father's situation. He should be judged on his job performance alone and it sounds like your father has done a splendid job as pastor. It just kills me how people who call themselves proper Christians or people of strong morals have lumps of coal where their hearts should be. These people who are trying to destroy your father's career are among the most evil of evil. I am wishing both you and your family strength in this difficult time.
