An Admission re Bono and Iraq. I just did the math*

I admit it.
I was hoping that Bono was w/USA in going in and getting rid of Saddam.
Even though publicly he has been silent, Im beginning to read between the lines..as GabrielVox suggested.
He doesnt support the USA in Iraq, this is now my assesment.

Many of you were correct for him not coming out openly too, saying he didnt want to piss off this Administration.

So this is a public acknowedgement of diamondbruno being blissfully hopeful re Bono's agenda, and me, diamondbruno being wrong.

Thats ok though, I still love the man.
His music has keep me high for 2 decades strong now.
Even though I have only agreed w/a portion of his politics, I love the man's large heart.

And for the record, I support the USA ridding Saddam saving hundreds of thosands of Iraqis anymore future bloodshed by this manacital-sp dictator.

Peace

Out-
Diamond

I think his rendition of "What's Going On" during the last leg of the Elevation tour should have been your first clue.

Bono probably supports the disarming of Iraq, but like most people he is questioning the need to kick their asses tomorrow.

Do you think we should give the chemotherapy some time then or just start chopping off limbs?

I think Bono is wise to be silent even if he wanted to speak out.

Diamond - this must have been a tough thread for you to start.

It's after Saddam gets his ass kicked that the real problems begin. If other nations aren't on board with the restructuring of another country then it falls on the sholders of the offending country, in this case the US. Other nations will have to be on board in order to keep the peace after Iraq looses the only "mad man" most of them have ever known. Good point olive, I say give the chemotherapy some more time also. I think...

Hello,

For those wanting some actual Bono quotes instead of guesses, etc. here is a soundbyte from the MusiCares festivities (as found on the website http://www.grammy.com)

Quote:

Calling 2003 a period of "nervous times," Bono warned the Bush administration against making Saddam Hussein a martyr, and spoke of resolutions reached with the Irish Republican Army a decade ago and debt relief granted by the U.S. to poverty-ridden third world nations as the kind of successes constructive dialog can bring. "The world is much more malleable than you think," he said.
C ya!

Marty

I thought this needed rounding out. Here's quotes from the Edge at the MusiCares event.

Edge then took to the stage to congratulate Bono and talk about the band’s success. Edge said he wanted to thank the little people who had helped them along the way. He proceeded to list off Clinton, the Pope, and “Bush and his regime—oh, I mean administration,” which elicited a roar of laughter.
