Actually I think Australia is as good an example of secularism in practice as any. Culturally I don't think we're so far removed from America (ie. nominally Christian, but not exclusively so, and without the continental European protestantism), but the sort of angst that goes on there is unimaginable here.

Try running for office based on your religious beliefs here and you'd be laughed out of the house.
