This really means something to me b/c as a Christian, I do not believe in free will, just as the way you are describing it here. It's nice to know two polar opposites can still arrive at the same conclusion.

Interesting, because free will is discussed in the Bible. It says that we have it.

It's debatable. Can you site any specific verses?

Like I've said repeatedly in various threads, in the theology I've learned and accepted, "free will" does not = one's ability to make their own choices. That is something called "freedom" and everyone has it. Free will is ONLY concerned with one's actual will, or soul, heart, whatever you want to call it, and what that part of you wants more than anything else.

The Bible also talks about a donkey farting.

Hello all,
I thought i would drop in my personal opinons here on this quite intresting thread!
I am not an athiest but I have talked too many athiests throughtout my life, so I understand where they come from, and why they believe the way they do. But I would just like to say what religion gives to me in my life. I know that what the scripture teaches us and Jesus, is that I do have a purpose here on earth, Im not just here to work, and have fun, etc.., and then die. Also that I have free agency to choose between good and bad everyday, we all have been given a concious for a reason, we know and feel what is good and bad, and we make decisions everyday, in my beliefs in religion, it keeps me from stealing, lying, commiting immoral sins or whatever, because I know that I will be judged for those sins after this life by God. What i have gained by my beliefs and religion, is that this life is a test, and God is testing us here on earth, he is giving us the free agency to decide for ourselves what we want in the long run(afterlife) for what we do in this short life we have here on this earth. I know that if I did not have these beliefs or religion, or if I did not believe in God, I would have no meaning in my life, I would ask myself what am I doing on earth, or does anything mean anything. And I would probably be more likely to commit alot more sin, because I would think there is no consequence, even steal when I had the chance, lie to people,etc.. But I know with religion and my beliefs that I may get away with it here on earth, but God knows everything I do. So for me, my religon is a huge boost, it gives me purpose and meaning for life, and not just this life to look forward too but for all eternity!

Thanks, good link, and sorry my link was unworthy. I did a two minute huntdown on Google, and I knew it was a crap link to begin with.
