reminds me of being in Brussels when Bush visited ... i remember walking with an American friend of mine past protests, and we both agreed not to open our mouths until we were well out of earshot, lest our accents get us beaten up.

if spoken to, we would have claimed Canadian.

i also saw an American flag being burned at a pro-Palestinian march/ralley in Glasgow. yeah. way to go, dudes. i love how you stamped out the flag with your Nikes and kept warm with your Yankees baseball caps and Brooklyn sweatshirts. (it's true, i have it on film)

it's moments like these that have filled me with loads of contempt for the European far Left -- they're as filled with anger at easy targets and shreik out slogans "the world needs justice, not war!" as idiotic as any of their right-wing counterparts.

i suppose it underscores the fundamental circularity of the spectrum.
