Oh no. The entire medical community could go bankrupt if word of this spreads to other communities.

Several of my colleagues have had the experience here of having a procedure at the hospital and having a facilities charge of exactly the same amount as the procedure. So for example, if the procedure costs $300, they got billed an additional $300 for the use of the facility. If the procedure costs $3,000, they were charged an additional $3,000 for the use of the facility. Instead of there being one standard charge per hour for the use of the facility, they just double-charge you for the cost of the procedure. It's ridiculous and though it's different from what this article describes, it's got me thinking that people here might have a case as well.

And I thought it was expensive when I went to see an Australian doctor while I was ill last month ...

"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

I'm starting to think a NHS wouldn't be such a bad idea. It's f'ing extortion, is what it is. And our tax rates really aren't that low to begin with, considering what we get for it.
