Yes, I know the difference between socialism and communism.

Well, if you know the difference then call it what it is and quit using scare-mongering tactics like calling them commies to make them seem worse than they are. All it ends up doing is making you look ignorant.

Pro-pot/pro-war: I dislike both. For pot, I feel that for many people, it is gateway drug that leads to harder addictions. I hate war though. Don't get me wrong, I love watching it movies. I hate that differences move nations to war. But I understand that war is sometimes necessary.
That gateway drug thing is a myth and a cop-out. How many lives are lost from smoking pot? How many lives have been lost in Iraq so far? Compare the difference.

I'm glad you hate war but if the conservatives win, your country will be involved in it too, mark my words.

Calluna,

About the "commies" scare tactics; What are you talking about? I think you have me confused with someone else. I didn't refer to the Communist Party of Canada as "commies".

As far as the pot argument goes; this one hits close to home as I had my best friend get started on pot and eventually ended up a coke-head who stole from his friends/family to support his habit. He's now going through rehab. So for me, it's not a cop-out.

As far as Canada being involved in a war - I hope not. However, Canada going to Afgahnistan was needed. And if a country/terrorist org attacks our country, we should have the means/balls to defend our nation.

give me a BREAK!

those 'reasons' are written in such an opinionated tone, it's laughable.

This is what I am talking about:

I would probably get more accepting remarks if I were to endorse the Marijuana Party/Communist Party instead of the Conservatives.

So you said communist instead of commie. It's still ignorant scare-mongering and you lose credibility for using it.

Your friend was probably an addictive personality and would have started using something else regardless of whether or not he/she had ever smoked pot. Plenty of people who smoke pot go their whole lives without becoming addicted to other drugs.

I'm not talking about Afghanistan here. And you sure do talk an awful lot about balls.

Of course the "reasons" are written in an opinionated tone. They are the authors reasons for not voting Liberal.

Imjhitman; instead of criticizing everything I post, why don't you talk about some of your opinions? I'd love to hear your political views rather than the constant bashing that you've been dishing at me.

Very funny comment about the balls! ( I just feel that using the word "balls" makes the statement more powerful).

Commie: I'm still lost with you on that one. I'm really failing to see how I was using scare tactics there.

Pot: You're right. Many people smoke pot in peace and never experiment more. However, if you legalize pot, you instantly make it accessible to much more people. And in doing so, you also give greater pot exposure to the dormant "gateway" population.

Why I'm not voting for Harper/Conservative:

He has a Calgary Flames hockey puck on his desk

It's easier for a 13 year old to buy pot than alcohol and tobacco.

And an awful lot of people who eventually use hard drugs also smoke regular cigarettes and drink alcohol too. Do you propose making them illegal? And beer is certainly a "gateway" drug to harder liquor. That at the very least should be made illegal, as there are a lot of alcoholics around.

What is so emotional about that list? It's a list of reasons not to vote liberal. I'm sure you have reasons not to vote conservative. There's really nothing emotional about it. It's talking about hard facts, not emotion.

The article you are referring to wasn't an email. It's a newspaper column writen in the Toronto Sun.
A heavily conservative paper, very well known for their propaganda!

I hope that their readership - at least the ones who purchase the rag for more than their sports pages or the Sunshine girl - have the critical thinking skills to see what a bunch of tripe that list is. It's hardly unbiased and factual.

This is extremely ironic given the article you posted.

In a period of unbelievable prosperity and incredibly robust economy and a dollar that's stronger than it's been in decades, people want to dump the current government for a wacko nutjob who is so far up Dubya's ass he's coming out of his throat. Sounds like a brilliant plan.

At least W's sense of personal pettiness kept him away from here while Martin was PM. Now watch his ugly mug show up here and eat up several $$ millions on security, probably before the month is up.

The "marijuana party"? If I were Canadian I'd vote for them.
