$1800 for a 2 bedroom. Ha!

Manhattan-Fall-2015.png

so with a little effort, one can find an apartment in NY in the $1100 a month range, not bad:hmm:

Lots of great points here.

VOX has always seemed really liberal to me, but I should take it with a grain of salt. I'm sure it was slanted to make Sanders look bad.
Either way, I still like Hillary's proposals better, find them much more likely to actually be implemented, and if on top of that, it comes with little to no tax increase, then all the better.

I also agree that this year, everything seems to be out the window as far as what to expect. And the anti Trump will be big. Lots of regular Repubs sitting the whole thing out. Moderate Repubs voting Dem. But a surge in male, white angry support for Trump. Luckily that aint enough.

I like Bernie, i truly do. Was a huge fan of his, but have moved to Hillary. I'm a life-long Dem and there are just too many things piling up with him that don't sit well with me. (That said, i will vote for him in a heartbeat if he's the nom)

I don't think the whole socialist, Castro thing phases Dems very much. Same goes for higher taxes and growth of government. But put it out to low info Repub and indy voters, and I think it's a done deal. They all thought (and still do) that Obama is a socialist Muslim. So this will be a cake walk.

There's no doubt that taxes are going up up up with Sanders. I'm just very cautious about reading pretty much anything that isn't wholly neutral. Again, I'm not too sure where I got that notion of the Libertarian thing... but I do know that I've read that the tax calculator in question makes some rather heinous interpretations of the facts laid out by the Tax Policy Center. Things such as payroll taxes, where the full and incorrect assumption is that it comes out of an employee's paycheck as opposed to the employer, for example. Whether or not these things are true, I don't know. I'm no tax expert, and I won't begin to be. However, it does seem to be biased, if anything.

Personally, I have minimal political/economic 'ideologies' that I align with. I'm more of a believer that there's not really one right answer, just right and wrong people. I'm going to support either Sanders or Clinton in the Fall. I'm 100% happy to have the status quo right now, but would love to see radial reform on health and education. Nobody from the right is currently offering that, and with Trump as a candidate, I feel the stakes are too high to vote independent.

been to NYC, made a nice little tour of the boroughs
a good time, good mass transit, compared to Los Angeles

people should live where they can afford to live and plan their higher education costs to fit within their financial means

Yeah? A tour of the boroughs? I'm sure you strolled through Hunts Point, grabbed a bag of dope and a hooker, and witnessed a routine homicide. Great place to save some money for your two bedroom apartment when you have kids living in the city.

Oh, and maybe you missed the point, but "planning higher education costs to fit in with financial means" is a ludicrous and utterly bullshit statement. Students don't earn money. Certainly not enough to cover the costs of higher education these days. That's why they borrow it. They *have* to borrow it. How much they have to pay back is the name of why student loans are too expensive. Sallie asks for basically two to one on the dollar.

Im from Japan where many of businesses and companies are concentrated to one city (Tokyo area) and often times people don't have an option other than live in Tokyo, though the cost for living is generally high there. Obviously rents are pretty high but people are often forced to do it, though not all people can really afford to do so.

No, but the costs of housing, education, and health care, have skyrocketed compared to wages since at least the 1970s. So this becomes one of those "easier said than done" things.
Of those three
Only one has had a correction (in America) why do you think that is?

It's a hard fact you point out. And I think the arrow is still pointed up on exponentially rising costs. We can agree it's gonna be complicated.

If I did that, I'd be a manual labourer like my poor immigrant dad and not a corporate lawyer who graduated 3rd in her law school class.

But great advice to keep the downtrodden where they are.

How would you term the housing price thing that happened in the states?

It was a crash, not a correction.

A correction is a modest decline in response to an overvaluation of properties returning the property to its fundamental value. A crash results in the property becoming undervalued compared to its fundamental value.

Besides picking on the incorrect usage of the term, is there actually a point being made? What he said doesn't exactly mean anything, regardless.

The GOPe is propping up Cruz as a Trump buffer to 1237. But once he serves his purpose they will abide by the Golden Rule 'Fuck Ted Cruz'. They will abandoned him and let #CruzSexScandal sink him. This will pave the way for 'Child of Light' Paul Ryan to ascend to the top of the ticket. That's what I feel the master plan is. If that happens the GOP implodes.

Trump can still reach 1237 with some fertile ground in the calendar after Wisconsin, his seed will find purchase.

Once Cruz sees the writing on the wall he may want to make peace with DJT and form a unity ticket to stop them from both getting screwed.

Matt Yglesias is a grade-A moron, I take anything from Vox with a large grain of salt.

He's a mess. Recall he defended fascism on Twitter at some point recently, and the shit doesn't end there for him.

So if Hilary wins New York does that pretty much clinch the nomination?

Not at all. I think if she needs to blow Sanders out there by over 10%+ to be back where she was. She's not in a very good position right now, what with polls suggesting she's not bound for a convincing win anytime soon.

Ugh. That's too bad. I'd rather her wrap it up soon so she can fight the good fought against Drumpf.

New York will definitely be the end of Sanders if his momentum reverses, though. He's been climbing rapidly on her in New York, but I don't think he ever expected to win it.

Your basic argument is that poor people should stay poor.

He also said that the sweatshop collapse in Bangladesh wasn't a big deal because countries should be allowed to choose their own safety standards.

Steven Crowder's done it again!
