I think that's because for a very long time, you were. Besides, Melon, as you mentioned, whose presence is missed. I still remember your patience in explaining gay perspectives for the umpteenth time, when I would have been ready for a barroom brawl to settle things, in your position. You've earned a certain cachet, for that.

It's been a very long time since I've posted in these parts. I've been lurking in this thread for weeks now, though, and as an outsider who only has time to digest the POTUS election news in soundbytes, this thread has been great, and mostly quite civil. I've enjoyed and have become more informed by reading all your views - thanks.

ETA - also miss Yolland. Does she post anymore?

That's pretty massive, especially since the white vote is dropping by about 2.5% of the electorate every Presidential cycle and Republicans are losing an estimated 2.5 million voter swing every cycle due to deaths and younger voters identifying with Democrats more than ever...I'm open to the possibility of a Republican victory at least being probable, but not one by that margin unless Clinton is found to have clearly committed illegal acts by the time the election rolls around.

While I do think Sanders does a better job at energizing far leftists and independents that wouldn't normally vote, and therefore is the stronger candidate, I think Clinton's weaknesses in these head-to-head GOP matchups are mostly due to distrust of her among the general public...but when November rolls around, they're going to hold their nose if she's the nominee and get in line.

I have no doubt Sanders can win the democratic nomination.

He'd get slaughtered in the national election. Young people don't vote, and old people are terrified of socialists.

So they're talking snow for the primaries... I imagine that helps the moderate Republican and liberal Democrat (not that Sanders needs help in NH) who live in the more "urban" parts of New Hampshire, not that anyone would ever call Concord or Manchester "urban"

Ha.

I went to college in New Hampshire so I know the state pretty well. It's about as urban as Montana

An acquaintance of mine who lives in NH (and is a Bernie supporter) posted this pic on Facebook today:

Old people have a reason for being terrified of socialists, they know history.

How cute, iron horse.

Anyway, that would have much more to do with decades long relentless propaganda - and you know, a little thing called McCarthyism.

I sort of loved watching Chirstie shitting on Rubio over his planned speech.

Ironically, I'm pretty sure that speech by Christie was planned.

I'm loving it. New Hampshire obviously has been much stronger for the three governors, but they're actually also coming out of this debate as being the three victors.
