If I were an ISIS sympathizer trying to get into the U.S. I'd go for the southern border.

Was there a camp? Maybe some kind of franchise for not hardcore ISIS but wannabes.

I'll admit I didn't phrase that properly.

The southern border is a huge national security risk. And yes it's been a problem for 30+ years. Right now a large portion of the electorate is focused on immigration and it's likely to dominate Thursday's debate.

I feel bad for the people and children at risk from human smugglers. Riding the beast train. Many lives lost along the way. The surge because the current administration is dangling that carrot of Amnesty.

The immigration system is a mess and it's not just a Latin American problem. We're taking refugees from the Middle East and the Horn of Africa. Some need our charity, but these are hotbeds of terrorism also.

There's a vast difference between hypothetical and actual reality though. And yet, on the right the hypothetical scary situation is being reported as if it is reality. With the implication that, since there obviously is no legitimacy to holding a nuanced view on this subject (), this all happened because Obama just doesn't give a shit about border security.

So I have a question for the liberals/democrats on the forum. It's been a hot topic lately that DNC Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz could not identify differences between liberals and socialists. (Video below)

Now clearly, Schultz has proven time and time again that she is a clueless buffoon. My question is, what is the real difference between socialists and liberals? And how would Bernie Sanders not be considered a socialist?

Among right wingers. It's a complete distraction. She's not running for office. I've seen several conservative relatives post about it on Facebook, and when I click the link to see what the right wing commenters have to say, it's full of hateful, insulting and misogynistic ranting that either goes completely unchecked or is applauded and cheered on. If that's the crowd pushing this around, well, that explains a lot.

When your back is on the ropes; distract and demonize.

It's pretty simple. Google is your friend, lookup the real definition and see if applies across the board.

How about you answer a dang question? You run your mouth a lot and give no input or feedback besides condescending remarks. Would I get away with saying, "oh just google what I'm talking about." No, I wouldn't. So why are you so high and mighty that you aren't held to the same standard. Typical liberal snob.

It is an issue because she is a DNC chairman. She represents the party. What if Reince Preibus couldnt identify the difference between republicans and fascists? You guys would certainly be discussing it.

Ahh, there's the typical conservative deflection: when anyone calls out any ridiculous lie simply claim liberal bias. I guess this is what happens when you get your news from people who claim a soccer jersey found on the border is actually an Islamic prayer rug.

And the "snopes is biased" myth isn't true. You only believe they're biased because you disagree with the facts.

Honestly? No, I wouldn't. I honestly don't care what either Preibus or Wasserman Schultz have to say. To me, the position of party chairman seems to be one of relatively little significance to the actual party.

All this talk about ISIS on the border made me remember the terrorist threat of the Sandanistas being two days from Brownsville and how we had to continue the good fight to stop Ortega and his Communists from invading the US.

Good old Reagan. Another liar from the Republicans.

Because it's not a serious question. Anyone that passed the 7th grade knows the real answer. It's a distraction; it was tried in 08 and it didn't work. The GOP needs to learn; if it didn't work then it won't work now, and don't double down on a lie.

If you really want to play with the Fox News version of this game you might want to be careful, because Trump would qualify as a socialist for suggesting tariffs and regulating outsourcing. Is that really the game you want to play?

Now I'm going to ask one more time to drop the name calling. Would I get away with saying "typical conservative halfwit"? No, nor would I have to stoop to such a level.

I don't really think the word "liberal" means much of anything anymore, but most democrats do support an array of socialist policies in terms of wealth redistribution and state-sponsored welfare; I don't think that is debatable. What I don't understand is why the term "socialism" is so often seen as akin to Stalinist Russia.
