Eh. I don't really think the pronunciation issues amount to much one way or the other. Webster's, American Heritage etc. have recognized both pronunciations of 'Pakistan' as acceptable for many years now, and even the OED accepts two different ways of pronouncing it in British English. Eye-rack for 'Iraq' is maybe a little more questionable (and not currently recognized by either dictionary), but US journalists have been using that one for decades too, as they have multiple variations on 'Iran'. And if you watched much US Hurricane Katrina coverage, clearly we can't even agree on how to pronounce 'New Orleans.' Yes, it's stupid when people interpret Obama's pronunciation of 'Pakistan' as proof of holier-than-thou snobbery, but at the same time the reality is we have no hard-and-fast rules for resolving whether and when a foreign place-name officially gets its own unique Anglicized or American pronunciation (like 'Paris' and 'Mexico' clearly have) vs. when it's still disputed territory.

Nobody would be bringing them up were it not for Steyn and other idiotic conservative writers finding something about Obama to kvetch about.

As much as I would love to see the Republican's tossed out once and for all and would like to see an Obama administration...I still think that's a little creepy...I can only imagine what the anti-Obama forces out there think. Geez.

Yeah but man, he's the first African American candidate, and he's savy, intelligent, charasmatic, prodigious, and young.

Hell, I'd say he deseves the praise.

HOWEVER:

Remember this: If Obama is elected, it's still going to take at least a decade to get the U.S. out of this shithole we're in. And NO ONE can do that in 4 years, or probably even 8.
Which means people will be hounding Obama after 2 weeks or 7 years in office.

It’s a little creepy but makes sense. I’ve seen covers like that for McCain, Palin, Clinton (x2), but they’re not going to sell magazines like Obama would, hence you see a lot more of them for him. Pretty simple.

I was under the impression that the RS cover was intentionally tongue-in-cheek. The other two clearly involve cover stories about Obama as historic figure (which he is) and thus an intentionally iconic shot makes sense. Sorry, I'm not seeing a creepy librul-media conspiracy to subliminally deify him here.

But in the last few days I’ve learned that he’s a:
- socialist
- Marxist
- terrorist
- Muslim
- (and that those last two might be the same thing anyway)

Will the magazine covers change? No? SEE!!!!! Liberal biased media!

The guy's questions are asinine and so obviously designed to bait the questioners and set them up to say things that will make them look stupid. They may not be sharp enough to see through McCain/Palin's anti-Obama propaganda but they're smart enough to know when they're being set up.

And when he talked to the black guy. . .just WRONG. . .He should vote for Obama because just because he's black? Please. . .

To be frank none of the Americans on this video make our country look very good and that includes the condescending guy who made it.
