Funny, I don't ever see you writing or posting anything positive? Has Bush ever done anything positive in your opinion? I am willing to bet you think he has.

I challenge you to find a positive story about Bush and let's have that conversation.

He's good to his Mother his feet don't smell?

I honestly don't think Irvine has devised some conspiracy to constantly post negative stories about President Bush. No one is stopping anyone from posting positive stories/articles/whatever about him.

Some people in the press are saying that Bush could turn into a lame duck if these numbers stay the same for any length of time.

yes, you're right, that's all i do. i just look for bad things to say about Bush.

it's not that i come across things that are interesting and relevant and about Bush and the fact that his administration is currenlty in crisis -- and that's not an opinion, btw, if you were paying any attention, you'd know that -- and i write many things about many different subjects, it just so happens that, no, i don't like bush, and, yes, i don't think he's done anything that i can think of off the top of my head that has been positive.

wait, i did like the fact that he refused to talk about his cocaine use in the 2000 election. i don't care about past drug use by politicians. i was glad he didn't engage in that debate.

i also like the fact that he gets the idea that islamofascists are not freedom fighters or malcontents with socialist dreams; they are murderers, and must be defeated.

but he's fucked that up. big time. embarassed all of us and made us less safe.

i also supported the invasion of Afghanistan.

perhaps you could also look at it this way: Bush has no interest in being my president. he doesn't need my vote, and he knows he's not going to get it. so he doesn't even bother doing something, anything, that would appeal to an educated gay East Coast Corridor urbanite who's extensively traveled.

i am also much, much more likely to be killed in a future terrorist attack than ANYONE who lives in a state that voted for him. so it's not really my safety he's concerned with; it's looking like a big dick swinging cowboy to his constituents.

so fuck him.

i really do think he is destroying the country, and i could list how in a million-and-one ways, just starting with his fiscal insatnity, to his blurring of distinction between church and state, to his basic anti-intellectual attitudes, to his facilitation of the corporate take-over of democracy, to his POLICY of torturing detainees and prisoners of war.

as someone who has spent lots of time abroad, defending the US and it's policies and culture, he's done the one thing i thought never possible: because of Bush, i am now embarrased to be an American.

but you seem to have already made up your mind, and instead of defending bush, or even talking about the article and poll numbers, you attack the messengers.

That is why I posted the Pat Robertson article yesterday. Just to see the reaction.

That's funny cos I was actually going to ask you if you have any Irish roots (cos in your profile it says you saw U2 in Cork)

Where are your Irish roots from do you mind me asking?

are the two mutually exclusively?

Howard Dean is from your state, isn't he? There is nothing Irvine has said in this thread that Dean hasn't said.

I thought this was going to be a discussion of 2% vs. whole milk in lattes because someone asked me about it this morning.

Anyway, to say that these polls are meaningless because people voted for him a year ago simply does not take into account all that he's fucked up since then. There are definitely many people who voted for him and now regret it.

And yes, I am embarrassed whenever I meet non-Americans (which is frequent in my work) who ask what the hell were the American people thinking when they re-elected him.
