When I had my disk crash in April, I lost some Word documents. This includes a 41-page project I did back in the '90's on two medieval universities, those of Paris and those of Bologna. I'm putting this file in, from scratch. I'm looking at a hell of a typing job.

i try to back up my files to cd once a month, and if it's something really important i back it up sooner.

do you have a hard copy of it? you can try going some place like kinko's and having what's called an OCR scan done of it and have them save it in word. it won't be perfect and you'll need to do quite a bit of editing proofing and reformatting but it will be lots better than retyping the whole thing.
