The only positive, is after having non-stop pain in my throat for the last four days, not having it anymore is like the greatest feeling i've ever had

Listerine! Listerine is GOd!!!1!

Use it wisely, regularly, twice a day, all the time, and nuke your throat. I havent had tonsilitis in years because of Listerine.

My other pearl is if you have a runny nose go on the drugs immediately. Mucous dripping down the back of the throat is one of the main causes of a sore throat.

I always use throat coat tea from trader joes, and miso soup.
