meggy, I just read your thread in LS

You don't have any insurance that would cover you getting a CAT scan?

They don't even pay a portion of that type of testing?

I'm not sure how much they'd pay or how it would even work, because I can't go straight to a neurologist, right? And how do you ASK for a CAT scan? That brands me a psycho right there.

no you are not a psycho...just go into your regular doctor and tell him/her your symptoms. Maybe it is as simple as stress related migranes. They would probably refer you to a neurologist and that would be the first thing they would do run a bunch of x rays and scans.

No it doesn't!

As I just said in your LS thread, I had a CAT scan once after cracking my head on a desk when I passed out. I actually had had a couple other head injuries prior (I am accident prone...), so they thought it would be good to do a check and make sure I hadn't hurt anything precious up there. Hehe.

It's not crazy at all...it would be a wise precaution.

As for me...I wouldn't mind if the roof caved on in my right now and crushed me.

I asked my doctor about it last time I was there, and she just dismissed it as stess-related. The thing is, I'm not all that stressed now. (Well, I am NOW because of this happening again and because of money, but I wasn't when it started this time).

be insistant with your doctor...tell her that you think it may be more than stress. Don't let her dismiss you and treat you like she's somehow more knowledgable because she's a doctor.

case in point, last summer I kept getting kidney infections, the dumbass doctor would give me the same medicine for like 5 days...I would be fine for a week or so then get sick again. I went to the doctor 6 times over the summer for the same thing. Finally, I said that either they need to change the medicine or give me longer dosages. They finally gave me something that actually worked.

Normal

i agree with lots of people in your ls thread that the headaches are probably just stress related, but i think you should see a doctor anyway. weird headaches run in my family too - similar to what you describe. my mom and i always take immitrex (sp?) for migraines and it's an amazing drug. expensive though. you should maybe check out a new doctor just to make sure, if for no other reason than your peace of mind.

at that picture, BC!!!!

Thanks, everone.

I just went to the nurse and got an ice pack and some advil, but she said I should see a neurologist. She said it's probably just stress, but just in case, I should see a specialist because with my insurance, I don't need a referral. I really can't afford it at all now, so I guess I'll hope it doesn't burst or whatever and then wait until I'm in England or something.
