Well, as you all know, my golden retriever was put to sleep, leaving us with just our black lab, as far as dogs are concerned. However, we also have 4 cats, a fish, a newt, and a mouse. Well, I came home last night from school and work, open the door...and almost get pounced by a huge chocolate lab boundin' at me. Yes, my parents went and got another dog.

Problem?

I swear to God he's going to kill our cats!!!!!! He wants to eat them! The people we got him from won't take him back. He's locked in the basement now because we don't know what to do with him. He almost destroyed half of my room trying to get at two of the cats (including stepping on my two U2 vinyls after knocking them over

). He's a cool dog...but...damn...he's gonna eat the cats! My cat is 14 or 15 years old...she's too old to deal with this! Apparently, he also used to eat mice...*hides my mouse*

I'd say let him at them...the less cats the better!

One of those specialised dog training schools. Do you have Bark Busters in America? They do Special High Intensity Training with dogs too, as well as barking probs. If you want to tackle the prob, its likely to be costly. But it will be worth it. I hope you can keep all of them! Very sad chickie.

Awwwwwwww...I REALLY hope we can get this worked out...I hung out with him (his name is Chase) this morning, and he's so cool! Mom said, "Watch! He can do tricks!" He sits and shakes and stays, which my black lab does. But he also sits pretty, speaks, and lets you do that trick where you put a treat on his nose and he won't flip it off of his nose and eat it until you tell him to. I always wanted a doggie who could do cool tricks like that. *sigh* He is so fun...I hope he and the cats will get used to each other...

*lol*, Sicy...

Yeah, I was a wee bit surprised to walk in and find another dog! I thought my parents had decided we'd get no more pets...of course, we've said that in the past before too, and it made no difference.

I just got an email from my mom saying Chase was a good dog today...but we have to get him and the cats used to each other yet...*sigh*

I wanna go home and play with mah doggie!!

Bonochick, how's your other dog doing? Is he still morose, or is he active again? Maybe you can get him a treat like a rawhide bone? or something

I have good news. VEGEMITE is recovering! He's on new medication now and the vet no longer suspects cancer. Actually, we don't know why she was so sure it was cancer

. We still don't know what is wrong with him exactly, could be thyroid. Anyway, I think we have a charmed experience... first, Moses the other dog went missing,if some of you may recall, then he was found. Then Vegemite went missing, and was found. Then he had to be put to sleep according to the doc, but now he's getting better.

Thanks for everything, guys, most of all the prayers.

I'm glad to hear that, foray.

As for my black lab Eddie...he LOVES the new dog...though Dad and I are being careful to give him tons of attention because Mom is spoiling the new dog Chase (we hate that name...*lol*...but we don't know if changing it when he's already 6 years old would be good). I think Eddie feels a bit threatened by this younger dog coming into "his" house though...Eddie started a little trouble with him last night, and they started to fight (I had been sitting on the floor, and they started fighting right on top of me...owwwwwwwww...*lol*). But Dad broke them up, and they were fine and both wagging their tails.

Eddie had fun being an "only dog"...when I had time, I would take him for rides. I took him to PetsMart and let him pick out a treat (a big rawhide bone...most expensive one of the bunch, no less...*lol*). I took him through the McDonald's drive-thru too for Happy Meals. But the key words are "when I had time"...with my parents and I gone during the day and sometimes nights, he was really lonely. He likes having a new buddy.

As for the kitties...well...they need some more time...*lol*

Chase barks and cries a bit too much though...as he's doing right now. *lol* Dad made him an "apartment" in the basement...meaning he lives in half of the basement with a storm door to separate the halves (so the kitties can still go down and play in the other half).

He really is a sweet dog though!

So glad to hear about Vegemite!

It's really odd, but everytime I see a similar looking dog to the picture Foray posted, I think of Vegemite - and I have never meet this pup (nevermind the fact that it is on the otherside of the world).
