....do you think for a relative Pumpkin newbie like myself it would be a worthwhile place to start?? I have yet to get an album of theirs, and have been meaning to look into them further

Acro, if you like the tunes the Pumpkins are known for, Id start out with Siamese Dream and then Mellon COllie.
Adore may give you quite a different impression to start with.Its not as heavy as the rest.
Or you could get the best of, see which tunes you like the most and choose the album they are from

I'd start with yes, either that, or Siamese Dream. Possibly Adore too although it's far more balladry than their other stuff so it's not an accurate feel of all of their music.
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness has some very heavy stuff on it, but it is also a great album. I don't have the others, so I can't help you there...

But yes, the Best of is excellent, it has some wonderful songs on it
