It looks like a friend of mine and I are starting a band. He plays guitar, I sing and write lyrics. We're looking in our school for a bassist and a drummer.

He thinks we should all get 5 songs, tabbed and ready, to practice. Naturally, I'm going to pick 5 U2 songs (which I'm trying to figure out right now).

His guitar is an Epi Casino, and I will probably play some background acoustic while singing.

I started a band like six months ago... we can just now sort of get through Vertigo

in my defense, I was the only one who had any experience playing. the bassist, drummer, and singer started from scratch. also, we had trouble actually having all four of us at a practice, and even when we were all together we usually just like got food or something

so uh...good luck with your band!! :D

Thanks. We could be in a similar scenario. We still just have me and the guitarist, but he wants me to play a lot of backup guitar, despite me having little experience. I said, "I'm gonna do it like Bono then, and have the amp the whole way down."

We still have no bassist and drummer, but the two of us are good songwriters, so we still think there's a good chance it can work.

We're still debating whether we should have a keyboard player. I say yes, it could help a lot, and plus I know one, but he doesn't want one.

Stay tuned!

Can you sing and play guitar at the same time? For whatever reason, that always gives me trouble, unless I use a certain rhythm on the guitar. if you can though, I'm sure you'll do fine :)

The hardest thing to find is a good drummer. Your guitarist can essentially teach anyone to play bass (that's what I did and what my dad did for his band as well), though of course you're better off if you get someone with experience.

Is the keyboard player interested? you could try jamming sometime, even if he doesn't officially join the band. try it out, see what your friend thinks.

have you picked your songs yet? :D

Don't know yet about playing both at the sometime. We'll see what happens with that.

My "primary" instrument is drums, actually, but I can't keep a beat on bass drum, and I don't have a kit, so I will be the singer (probably better at that anyway). I don't know any drummers right now, but that's what looking is for.

I was hoping that we'd be able to get him to play for at least a couple of shows on keyboards. I know he was involved in a band last year, which is no longer playing, so we'll see.

If we get the keyboard/piano guy, we'd play OOTS probably, as well as NYD. The Fly and UTEOTW look likely too. I'd say other possibilities include Bad, Zoo Station, and Red Hill Mining Town (if I can play guitar, because it would fulfill the two-guitar need - RHMT is exciting as a prospect right now).

Crumbs would probably be good for the 2 guitars and maybe Kite
Good Luck:up:

The songs I choose will depend a lot on that and the piano.

There are entirely too many sentences in these posts for this to be in IO.
