While I was referring in an overall sense, I mainly meant that the albums themselves are more consistent. The only 80s U2 album i consider to be consistent is Joshua Tree, whereas Zooropa and Achtung Baby are particularly consistent, and Pop is too to a slightly lesser extent.

so was I
but when you put out twice as many albums in just as many years it would seem logical that you when you have a lot less time to complete an album the album will sound less coherent
that's why Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree already are coherent albums
they didn't have to worry about getting kicked out of the studio by then

Thats true about UF and JT, but I just feel that in the '90s, U2 grasped how to make album after album consistent.:yes:
