Why does everyone go crazy about the "Sing..." part in Sometimes?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Why don't you start smoking cigarettes and become an occassional smoker, meet all the vocal demands of being a singer for 25 years, and then try to hit that note when you're 45 years old.

Bono said that the "Sing......" was operatic and it was for his father. His dad was a good tenor singer and I guess since the song is for his father there should be a big opera-ish note in it.

I like the "Sing..." part cos of the way Edge's guitar and Bono's voice compliment each other. Without the guitar part underneath I don't think it would be as spectacular, I think you can hear the emotion in Edge's guitar almost as much as in Bono's voice. :)

For me it's the whole "I know that we don't talk, I'm sick of it all..." build - up of the voice, guitar, bass and drums.

"can you hear me when I sing
you're the reason I sing
you're the reason why the opera is in me"

one of all-time  U2 studio moments.
