A lot of people think that HTDAAB has various sounds from previous U2 albums. Which previous U2 album do you think each track would fit best on?

For me...

Vertigo - AB
Miracle Drug - AB
Sometimes - ATYCLB
LPOE - AB
All Because of you - Pop
City of blinding lights - UF
Crumbs from your table - JT
A man and a woman - UF/JT (hardest one to fit into any one era)
One step closer - UF
Original of the species - JT
Yahweh - UF

Quite difficult!

Vertigo - AB
Miracle Drug - AB
Sometimes - AB
LaPoE - Pop
COBL - Pop
ABOY - AB
AMAAw - Pop
Crumbs From Your Table*
One Step Closer - ATYCLB
OOTS - ATYCLB
Yaweh - UF

*This song would be sooo hard to fit on any other album because it is probably the quinsential HTDAAB track! I guess it's closest to something from Pop, but not close enough to have fit on the album.

In the issue of Blender with U2 on the cover, Adam says that COBL is an outtake from Pop. Go Figure!

It would have been pretty cool to see COBL on Pop. That would have really thrown the Pop album for a loop.

Hmm ... I'm not really sure except for two.

LAPOE - Zooropa, all the way. I don't see how anyone could list a different album considering the first minute of this song.

OSC - UF, no doubt about it.

Vertigo - Boy
Miracle Drug - JT
SYCMIOYO - AB
LAPOE - Pop
COBL - ATYCLB
ABOY - ATYCLB
AMAAW - Not any U2 album, ever.
CFYT - definitely U2-ish, but can't decide...
OSC - Zooropa, or Passengers
OOTS - ATYCLB
Yaweh - UF

I don't get it. Vertigo doesn't sound like anything on Boy at all. It sounds like it probably belongs on HTDAAB.

It's Boy plus 25 years of musical experiences in 2004. :)

Bono and Neil McCormick have said that vertigo has elements of stories for boys in it - the hello, hello part I guess:shrug:

To me the hello hello part is as close as it gets to Boy. Style wise, yes, it is obvious this band is 25 years older. Maybe the energy is another thing that gets it compared to Boy. I just don't see it being a track on Boy though.

Vertigo--Boy (sue me)
Miracle Drug--ATYCLB
Sometimes...--ATYCLB
Love and Peace...--Zooropa or Pop
City of Blinding Lights--Unforgettable Fire
All Because of You--ATYCLB or Achtung Baby
A Man and a Woman--ATYCLB
Crumbs...--ATYCLB
One Step Closer--Zooropa (it's the minimalism)
Original of the Species--ATYCLB
Yahweh--Unforgettable Fire

Man...that was REALLY REALLY REALLY tough with a few of those songs...

Miracle Drug - Unforgettable Fire
COBL - Unforgettable Fire (and a hint of Boy)
ABOY - Rattle & Hum
One Step Closer - Zooropa
Yahweh - Joshua Tree

(this was a lot easier with ATYCLB - you could actually match those tracks to specific songs, not just albums)

Vertigo - October
Miracle Drug - Zooropa
SYCMIOYO - AB
LAPOE- Pop
COBL- ATYCLB
ABOY - Boy
AMAAW - UF
CFYT - JT
OSC - JT
OOTS - ATYCLB
Yahweh - JT

SYCMIOYO- JT
LAPOE - R&H
COBL - TUF
ABOY - R&H
AMAW - JT
CFYT - JT
OSC - Pop
OOTS - JT
Yahweh - TUF

I think the album has more influences of the TUF-JT-R&H era than
the often mentioned War and AB.

I think that all 11 tracks sound like they could have been on How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.

I'll do some mixes

Vertigo -- AB + Boy
Miracle Drug -- War + JT
Sometimes...-- ATYCLB + AB
Love and Peace... -- Zooropa + Rattle & Hum
City of Blinding Lights -- Boy + POP
All Because of You -- AB + ATYCLB
A Man and a Woman -- UF + ATYCLB
Crumbs... -- ATYCLB + JT
One Step Closer -- UF
Original of the Species -- ATYCLB
Yahweh -- JT
