Which "Single Version" or "New Mix" most improves upon original?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

The 'Greedo Shoots First' mix of 'Please' was a travesty (as were all the others). The single version did away with Adam's original staccato bassline, which was absolutely amazing. And the original ending was very unusual for U2. Which was a GOOD thing. The single version basically homogenized the end of the song so it would sound more like every other U2 song. And, those disco strings? How can anybody believe that adding disco strings to a song about Northern Ireland is a good choice? They took a song that required rawness and punchiness, and glossed it up pretty-like. And they ruined it. And, as for the rest of the 'new mixes' - they're U2's STAR WARS. They second-guessed their initial - and more interesting - musical choices, and George Lucased the hell out of them. Fuck that.

You're one pissed off Star Wars fan...

One big difference though here. At least with U2, if you don't like how they've redone some of the Pop songs, at least the originals are still available on CD. George Lucas can change around the Star Wars movies all he wants, but the original versions should have been put on DVD as well.

What the hell are disco strings?

Can someone e-mail me the 1995 version of 'Tomorrow' by Adam and Bono from that Irish music tribute CD? It's not for sale on iTunes, and from the 30 second snippet, I really, really think I'm gonna like it. I love the original version.
