Sorry if I don't know the prices of everything. Also, the prices I put are suggested retail, so chances are you may have paid less if you got from a discount store, or with a discount coupon code, or because you bought it pre-owned. You also could have paid more because it is a limited item whose value has gone up, or a scalped ticket.

I'd like to know:

1. What do you already own and how much did you pay for it?

2. What items do you plan to buy when your means permit?

Cheers,

J

Oops, I realized I didn't answer my own questions!

1. Only got one item so far...

HTDAAB Deluxe Edition, paid $39 for it.

2.

I plan to buy U2.com merchandise, particularly a couple of t-shirts when I can somehow snag a discount code from a generous donor. Also, if I don't get to catch them this tour, I plan to let my friend buy me some concert merchandise. Of course I'd like to catch them this tour and snag floor tickets.

Cheers,

J

I bought:

* How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb Deluxe Edition (this is the one with the book, yes? Thats the one I bought)

* The DVD single for Vertigo

* I will purchase the DVD single for Sometimes

* I want to purchase an album tshirt from the U2shop but I'm waiting on a response to my query on the sizes.

* If U2 tour my city I will buy a concert ticket and a tour tshirt. If I don't see U2 live then I wont buy a tour tshirt, I'm funny like that.

PS I didn't write the financial costs as I'm in Australia and I'm sure no one cares about Australian dollars.

- HTDAAB CD/DVD/Book: AUS$50, I think
- Vertigo CDv1/CDv2/DVD: AUS$25
- U2.com subscription: US$40
- Tickets to all three Boston gigs: US$150 or so, minus Ticketbastard's service charges

I have a U2.com discount coupon that I will use to buy a shirt soon, I think that will cost me US$15. Not sure if I'll buy the SYCMIOYO singles yet.

I bought:

- U2.com Membership $40.00
- How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb Limited Edition $22.99

....and in the fall, I will hopefully be buying a ticket to one of the third leg shows. (I'm crossing my fingers on Portland, but if not... I'm willing to travel). That's it.

I was tempted to buy the Vertigo DVD single, though.

I didn't mention my U2.com subscription as thats not a How To Dismantle..... expenditure for me. I intend on maintaining my membership for as long as its financially feasible to do so.

Isn't the content on those two DVD singles already in the DVD that accompanies your Deluxe Edition HTDAAB album? So why still plan on buying the DVD single if yes?

Cheers,

J

1. HTDAAB CD, $8.99 at Circuit City.

2. None. I may download some guitar tabs but don't tell anyone at Universal Publishing.

The Vertigo DVD included

*Are You Going To Wait Forever
*Vertigo (Jacknife Lee 10" Mix)

The Sometimes DVD includes;

1. Sometimes You Cant Make It On Your Own (Live At Hanover Quay 16 Nov 2004)
2. Vertigo (Video)
3. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own (Audio)
4. Vertigo (Trent Reznor Remix) (Audio)

I'm presuming the Vertigo video is the Spanish riverbed one.

I'm just a video junkie. I like images.

I paid:

Vertigo single - $10
HTDAAB regular edition - $10
HTDAAB collector's edition - $35

My family paid as a gift for me:

U2 iPod - $349

HTDAAB Limited Edition - $15 at Best Buy (I had a $2 discount because I had Best Buy Bucks from McDonalds)

Are You Gonna Wait Forever and Fast Cars downloaded from iTunes - $1.98

U2.com membership - $40

That's it so far. I'm waiting for the 3rd leg to get concert tickets.

Were these songs on video or just like a photo slideshow or only in pure audio format?

That is really cool. If I'd get the iPod I'd make sure I'd get the complete U2 too. You have any plans of getting it?

Jick,

The Jacknife Lee remix is a video of U2 wandering around that abandoned factory/ junkyard. (standing on old sea mines, or whatever those bomb things were)

Are You Going To Wait Forever was purely audio.

There is a photo slideshow as well. (thats pretty boring actually)

I bought the collector's edition of HTDAAB the day it came out. And it's none of your damn business how much I paid for it, Jick. Why do you even feel the need to ask these kinds of questions???

The DVD/CD combo for $19.99 at Virgin Records.......Zoo Station, a tribute band, was playing there and I got a free HTDAAB poster with my purchase....

I also bought a U2.com membership, which resulted in me purchasing a floor ticket for the first San Jose show. Last Sunday, I purchased a GA ticket for the second San Jose show.

So in total....

$20 album
$40 membership
$174 floor ticket
$62 GA

Ticket prices are estimates......but I've spent about $300 on the band.....

Yes, but how much have you spent on Steve Kilbey paintings this year? lol

This year? Nuttin' But during 2003 and 2004.... Well, lets just say for what I spent on SK paintings (and a few CD's, books, and concert tickets) I could have purchased a car. A nice car. New. :|

Which is part of the reason I can't afford to buy anyone else's stuff...

I purchased various items.

1. How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb Collectors Edition - $24.99

2. U2.com Membership - $40 (I was double charged at one point and couldn't get the issue resolved with FanFire, thankfully VISA was more sympathetic and gave me $40 of my money back)

3. The Complete U2 - $149.99

4. The Brooklyn Bridge EP - $3.96

I used my christmas gift money to pay for The Complete U2, so I do not consider it being "paid" for by myself.

Anyways just to justify this, I only owned two albums before purchasing any of these Limited Edition Best of 1990-2000 and ATYCLB. When calculating the cost to buy each album inidvidually, I determined that The Complete U2 was the most cost effective option to acquire the U2 library.

Estimated Cost of "The Complete U2" if music is purchased seperatly through Amazon.com

HTDAAB (Regular Edition) - $10.99
Vertigo Pt 1. + 2 $15.98
ATYCLB - $11.99
BO 1980 -1990 - $11.99
BO 1990-2000 - $11.99
War - $9.98
Unforgettable Fire - $9.98
Boy - $10.99
October - $10.99
Achtung Baby - $12.99
Rattle & Hum - $13.98
Under A Blood Red Sky - $10.99
Zooropa - $13.98
Joshua Tree - $11.99
Pop - $13.98
Wide Awake in America - $10.99
SYCMIYO Single - $11.99
ABOY Single - $9.49
One Single - $7.49
If God Will Send...(Single) - $7.49
Please Single - $7.49
Mysterious Ways #2 Single - $12.98
Beautiful Day #1 Single - $12.99
Electrical Storm 1 Single - $12.99
Who's Gonna Ride...(Single) - $7.49
Elevation 1 Single - $12.99
Electrical Storm 2 Single - $12.99
Stay Single - $10.49
Mofo Remixes - $12.49
Stuck in a Moment Single - $12.99
Beautiful Day 2 Single - $12.99
Last Night on Earth Pt 2. - $12.99
Discotheque Single - $12.99
Stuck in a Moment #2 Single - $12.99
Popmart Live From Mexico City - $19.99

Total Cost of This is $418.08 not including shipping. These are all the regular versions of the albums, not b-sides like you get with The Complete U2.

Total savings I get from buying The Complete U2 $268.09 (this is a very conservative estimate, and if I used the collectors edition prices of the various items that compose of the complete U2 and included everything in it, I could probably at least double this figure)

Therefore I'd like to applaud U2 for giving new fans like myself a cost effective option for acquiring the bulk of their library. Even by paying for a couple of the albums and $40 for a fan club membership I am actually more ahead of the game than most fans. U2 realizes that not all consumers can afford to buy their entire library and enjoy all their music, so they provided a cost effective option for new fans to be able to enjoy practically their entire library and even give them a bonus of unreleased and rare tracks. And If I bought a U2 iPod, I would end up saving even $50 more. If U2 is trying to be greedy and take lots of extra money from their fans, they sure fucked up pretty bad in reaching this goal by releasing The Complete U2 for only $149.

1. The regular CD

2. (potential) 1 ticket, if I'm quick enough when the concert agency announces travel arrangements for Milan or Munich

3. (potential) a T-shirt or some other souvenir from the merchandise, depending on the choices and prices
