Well Actung Baby was my very first album, but I was only a month or so when it came out so I wasn't into U2 then but my dad was and played the CD's a lot. I actually bought HTDAAB because a boy in my Honors class who I liked sang SYCMIOYO to me. Must have listened to it a billion times. Then since I don't live with my father I had to repurchase all their CD's and I still don't have them but I remember hearing JT, AB, and ATYCLB and singing along to the songs almost subconsciously because I had heard them before just didn't know who sang it....

//end rant

I put 1995 Passengers, but that's not completely accurate. Actually, HMTMKMKM in the summer of 95 was what first really got me into U2. Plus VH1 showed 10 U2 videos in a row once that summer, and that got me interested. My Dad already had Rattle and Hum, my uncle had the unedited tape of UABRS, and a few days later I had my mom buy me Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby (I was only 13 at the time so she had to buy it for me), and after that, I was hooked.

The wait for Pop wasn't too bad, because in the 2 years between 95 and 97, I had time to slowly buy all of U2's albums and discover them. I remember October was the last one I bought. But then, after Popmart, it was 3 very long years until ATYCLB.

I'm the only one who got into U2 by listening to Zooropa :(

My best friend's first album was Zooropa. I thought it was an odd choice, seeing as it had basically no recognizable hit singles to peak his interests, but he fell in love with it and became a fan by listening to Zooropa. This happened a few years after Zooropa came out, but it was the first album he bought, and to this day it remains his favorite.
