What's your favorite part of Vertigo?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Now that I'm home and can crank it to a completely rediculous level, I can honestly say my favorite part is this:

The night is full of holes
There's bullets ripping sky of ink with gold
They twinkle as the boys play rock and roll
They know that they can’t dance - at least they know
I can’t stand the beat

I’m asking for the cheque
Girl with crimson nails
It's Jesus 'round her neck
Swinging to the music [overlap:] Whoooaaa
Swinging to the music [overlap:] Whoooaaa ...

My second favorite part is this:

Hello, hello... (Here we are! Ola[?])
We're at a place called Vertigo (Yeah, that's right!)
Lights go down and no one knows
That you give me something...
I can feel your love teaching me
Aaahhhhh-aaahhh-aaahhh-aaahhh...
Your love is teaching me
Aaahhhhh-aaahhh-aaahhh-aaahhh...
How to kneel, kneel   :faint:

Of course, this is most of the song...

where Edge's "oooh - oh - oh - oh"'s takes the part of Bono's lyrics entirely, instead of just being behind them. [/B]

Sooooo right, and swinging to the rhythm, dancing to the rhythm (?) has a certain vibe...

Let's face it, compared to most rubbish played on mainstream radio these days (at least in the UK), this

ROCKS

Hola amigos

My favourite part is the begining of the chorus !!!, also when Edge starts to play that "Wire" guitar before second chorus !!!

Just in case amigos, here´s the 100% right lyrics of the first Chorus:

Hello, hello... ( ! Hola ! )
I'm at a place called Vertigo ( ¿ Dónde está ? )
It’s everything I wish I didn’t know
Except you give me something...
I can feel, feel

:drunk: So now my friends you really now which Spanish words they used on this song !!!!

Gracias ponkine! I was thinking the ( ¿ Dónde está ? ) was maybe ( ¿ Que Pasa ? ) or ( ¿ Como está ? )....but I think you are right.

Although, I won't be satisfied until I am reading the lyrics from the liner notes when the album becomes MINE!! :combust:

swinging to the music...
swinging to the music(backing vocals... Whoa, whoa)
and then FUCKIN' BONO JOINS IN WITH THE WHOA'S AND THEN THE CHORUS JUST SMASHES! YEAH, THAT'S MY FUCKIN' FAVORITE PART!

My favourite bit is the "your love is teaching me.." bit, which is classic U2 in feel and the "whooa" backing vocals which in addition to the buzzsaw guitar really drive the song along!

I agree with that entirely. This is the part I play over and over.
"The night is full of holes
There's bullets ripping sky of ink with gold"
can instantly go down as one of those 'classic' Bono lines.
And it all just works so well in every way.

I don't think this will be a concert opener though. I'd prefer to see them just rip into this one on the back of another great song. Like they do with I Will Follow. Build the crowd up to a frenzy with another song, then hit them with Vertigo.

I like the "HELLO HELLO" in the chorus

I also LOVE the "DONDE ESTA" in the chorus

The way Bono says "Your mind can wander" in the first verse is awesome too.

And of course I love the "YEAHS" at the end

Everything. Love the bass. And drums. And guitar. And the vocals.
Completley in love.

Everything works so well. :)

I change my answer.... the best part of Vertigo is going to be the part when Bono grabs my hand during a concert and breaths into the microphone, "Just give me what I want and nobody gets hurt..."
:

Thats what I'm sayin!!!

1st Fav:

Swinging to the Music, Swinging to the Music....WHoa Whoa.....

(Spinetingling)

2nd Fav:

"They twinkle as the boys play rock and roll
They know that they can’t dance - at least they know "

(This is Bono in a completely different style to what we've become accustomed to, it's breathtaking, what a voice)

Love the ripping power chords by the Edge, though of course this wouldn't be a U2 song without the harmonics (bells) in the midle-eight, would it?

The lyrics remind me of "11 O'Clock Tick Tock", the sound maybe a bit of a blend of that and "I Will Follow", but Edge is definitely shredding a lot harder than he ever has before.

i love the part where in the third chorus, after the guitar solo, bono sings "your love is teaching me hooooowwwwwwwwww", it sounds so cool.

They'd have to lose the "uno, dos, tres, catorce (turn it up captain)" bit if they didn't use it as an opener though. I guess it's not that big a deal, since they did the same with "Walk On".

Maybe they could play it to open the encore? Just a thought.

Just imagine when Bono sings the line "swinging to the music" and the audience fills in the "whoaaaaaaa" bit. Wow.

Yes, the bit between 0:00 and 3:11 is great. ;)

Seriously, listen for this line next time

"Your soul can't be bought but your mind can wander"

DAMN! I love it when Bono nails human nature like that. !! He's a poet!

TOUR TOUR TOUR!!!

I agree. It's the catchiest part of the vocals.
