I definitely don't pay attention to other bands's drummers as much - he seems to create someting unique and different for each song. And he can do so many varied sounds with his drums: from various effects, to consistent grooves, to fast beats, to loud, desicive rhythms, to slow, soft drumming. And with all due respect to the other 3, it feels like he leads the band in some songs and takes over.

Here's my list of favorite Larry songs (it's really hard to pick, as i don't dislike any of his drumming):

Sunday bloody sunday
Pride
Bad
Where the streets have no name
With or without you
Running to stand still
Angel of Harlem
Heartland
Zoo station
Light my way
Tryin't to throw your arms around the world
So cruel
Love is blindness
Stay
Babyface
Please
Discotheque
Elevation
In a little while
Wild honey
When i look at the world
New York

and B-sides:
Hold on to love
Always
Unchained melody

ps: My favorite album when it comes to Larry- it's a tie between AB and ATYCLB.

*how he leans back to get power towards the end of Streets

*IALW

*his hands

*his biceps

(what? I included two serious ones...)

Bono: There is a bit of my guitar playing, but honestly it's sad.
Larry: It is. But Bono looks great with it.

Take my shirt, go on take it off me
You can tear it up If you can tie me down

This is my favourite thing about the drumming in u2, the man behind the drum kit

I love the drumming on SBS but I think I like Larry more than his drumming, how shallow am I???

He's an awesome drummer. He's spent so much time honing his craft that he does it now almost effortlessly, and he just constantly amazes me with his skill. (Yes, I am sucking up-hehe)

But yes, he is an amazing drummer. My favorite 80's era U2 song of "his" is Like A Song, or Heartland, and for the 90's I'd say Ultraviolet or Please, and for the most recent era I'll say New York or Elevation.

"I sometimes get the odd twinge that I wouldn't mind playing lead guitar, just like a couple of notes, but that's about as near as I would want to get to the front." -Larry

LOL. I knew people would start talking about his looks here!

Of course, he's the best looking drummer i ever saw. That's a bonus for us girls.

"Something inside said this could be everything in your life." - Bono

"U2 as a band does things nobody one else can. I think that is a very powerful thing." - Larry

"Adam believed in the band before anyone did." - Bono

Hmm...same thing that Carrie and April have said already. Plus he's fun to watch (yes--the end of streets--and many other songs).

Favorite Larry tracks:

*Like A Song
*Sunday Bloody Sunday
*Angel of Harlem
*Mofo
*Bad

Shit I don't know--there's a lot that I like.
His drumming is more prominent in the early U2 albums...so I tend to leanr toward though.
But in reality, yes it's Larry--we love it all.

Hehe--my older bro was outraged when I told him how Garbage turned him down when he volunteered to play for Butch Vig--he said--How can you turn down Larry?? He's one of the best rock drummers out there!! Yep, I agree.

To the best of my knowledge, the only time he's not drumming 4/4. If you know what I mean.

Try doing finger drumming, or whatever to Fire... different, right?

and cool

I'll tell you a story about Johnny McGory.
Shall I being it? Well, that's all that's in it

Wow...Now there's an obscure reference!! I haven't heard that song in ages. I also think it's the only U2 song ever that I don't have on my computer. Dammit...now I have to go look through my CD piles

Good call with the song, though. It is a briliant piece of drumming.

The energy he puts in to U2 songs is just amazing! and the fact that the guy is just the epitome of cool just makes that much....cooler! [I'm so articulate] and lately, he seems to be enjoying meeting fans and just seems to be having more fun than before.

It's Larry. He's hot. He's yummy. And he can kick some ass on the drums. What else is there?

"It's all about drums."

"What's with all the glitter? I thought you didn't like our mirrorball lemon and shit. Well it's too late to change your mind now." -- Bono, Indianapolis, May 10, 2001

"Tonight with us, we have people who turned celebrity on its head. Celebrities are supposed to be somebody special, film stars, rock stars, we're celebrities. Supposed to be heroes, but we're not heroes. We're very selfish people who enjoy what they do, thank you very much. But here tonight we have from the fire department of New York City, from the police department of New York City, men and women that came down to catch the U2 show tonight. Theirs is the kind of bravery that can truly change the world." --Bono, Notre Dame, October 10, 2001
