What an Occasion! (The connection between Achtung and the Bomb)

This hasn't happened since Achtung Baby! An album is released by U2 and we have a huge peak behind the curtain at the process. With Achtung Baby there was the leaked Achtung Baby Outtakes. Now with HTDAAB we have two tracklists to listen to:

HTDAAB
1. Vertigo
2. Miracle Drug
3. Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own
4. Love and Peace or Else
5. City of Blinding Lights
6. All Because of You
7. Man and a Woman
8. Crumbs from Your Table
9. One Step Closer
10. Original of the Species
11. Yahweh
12. Fast Cars

HTDAAB (Chris Thomas Sessions and Outtakes)
1. Native Son
2. Smile
3. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own (Alternate)
4. All Because of You (Alternate Version)
7. Mercy (internet leak)
5. Yahweh (Alternate)
6. Xanax and Wine
[and include the ATYCLB Outtakes)
7. Levitate
8. Love You Like Mad
9. Flower Child

It's almost like two albums. What a gift to U2 fans. Now granted alot of these songs might have come out eventually as single B-Sides (as happened with many Achtung Baby and Joshua Tree songs), but to have them released the day of the album, how cool!

What a cool look into the creative process. Instead of that so-so DVD and crappy book, they should have released a deluxe HTDAAB with full album and a second disc of outtakes and Chris Thomas sessions.

Maybe there is hope yet for something like that. A while back Steve Lillywhite produced a Dave Matthews album that got shelved in favor of a more "produced" DMB album. Well the Lillywhite sessions got leaked and the band ended up putting an official release of the sessions called "Busted Stuff".

What do you guys think?

It's not really a gift to fans since the fans only have to pay $10 for the album and $150 for the rest.

At least the pirated achtung outtakes were affordable.

Do you ever stop?? Then don't buy it!!!!!!!!!!! :madspit:

Ok. Side Stepping the whole debate on "is the Complete U2 worth it" we have the release of the full album and a lot of outtakes (almost a full album) on the same day instead of having to wait years for them to show up as b-sides and remixes.

(Side Note: If worried about the price, find someone who has a coupon they're not going to use and perform a trade of some sort. Or just wait for the tracks to appear throughout the internet - they always do - http://www.u2eastlink.com )

Full Album + Rough Mixes/Outtakes + Same Day = awesome. I'm always interested in the creation of U2 songs. Especially after hearing the Achtung Baby outtakes ... those were wild. Anyways. Too cool.
