yes indeed, 'twas September last year when i came here (thanks to Paul for letting me know about this site).
there was certainly a lot going on, from
-hearing the clips (and loving them),
-"defending" ATYCLB from the critics,
-posting-a-lot and getting in trouble for it,
-having discussions with rougerum and others,
-reducing posting,
-exchanging emails with some of Interferencers and so getting to know a bit more about them,
-making some, ahem, noted and infamous threads (IALW thread, "Bonovista" thread, "petition" thread, asking questions about English expressions-though most of them were dealing with certain, how should i put it, aspects of human life. and let's leave it at that)
-seeing U2ey couples coming together
-fighting about the "revolution"
the highlights of the year?
hmmm-as a fan, definitely:
-hearing the clips
-buying the album
-seeing Stuck video
-reading news and interviews about U2
-getting MP3s
as a person:
-emailing with Interferencers (you know who you are, thank you!)
-reporting about details of the Stuck video to you
-sharing interviews and quotes with you
-seeing support when i needed it, and making people laugh/joking around with people ("U2 Fish" and "can't believe this hasn't popped up yet" or "what are the boys thinking" threads come to mind)
all in all, it was a good year. though there were times i was probably close to eternal eviction from this place
, you were kind enough to tolerate me and my numerous posts.
and there were times when i got some deserved verbal slaps. even though i may have been angry at first, i got over it eventually. i realised that it was all in good intention, so as time went by it turned from "quit picking on me" to "point taken". mostly (except for the rudest replies). those are now long gone and forgotten anyway.
then there are the hardest times, when i just drop my jaw at a intelligent, well-thought out thread (Sulawesigirl, Michael Griffiths). i say "hardest" because i could probably spend a year thinking and i doubt i would come up with anything that good on a regular level (like they do). those kind of threads just make you wanna pack up your bags and leave. just flat out-don't even go there, because you can't keep up with that kind of quality.
so-thanks for letting me be a part of this forum, and letting me stay no matter how silly my posts may have been, or how many people they have made mad.
ps: this turned out to be a long thread. congratulations, you've made it to the end, reader!
