The Diamondbacks deserved the series. No doubt. They played better than the Yankees the entire series.

Maybe this win will help heal the city's collective scars from June of 1993, when John Paxson buried the city of Phoenix with one dagger of a jumpshot in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

Ahh...sweet memories.

Being born and bred in Chicago, I can say with complete confidence that Chicago outplayed Pheonix in that series. This is not to say it wasn't a close series, but that the Bulls were always able to pull out that little extra when needed.

In contrast, the Diamondbacks clearly outplayed the Yankees - no doubt there. That said, the Yankees came within 2 outs of winning the series! Again, my Chicago roots are happy because Mark Grace, who toiled for years with the Cubs, finally has a well-deserved series ring (and he contributed big time to the Diamondbacks winning).

As for Yankee fans... considering the Cubs haven't won a series since 1908 and the Red Sox (as, at present, I am a Boston transplant) haven't won since 1918, I have little empathy for them - considering their team just won three straight series and have been to the series 5 out of the last 6 seasons! The better team won, as they should. The Yankees were bound to lose at some point...

As a long suffering Red Sox fan, it was nice to see the Yankees lose, because the D'Backs played much better, but the Yanks found themselves on the verge of another victory. It was only fitting the way Arizona won in the 9th considering what had happened in games 4 and 5.
Congratulations to the DiamondBacks and their fans.

P.S. : DB9...would a thread started by you about the Arizona baseball team be a DiamondDiamondBacks thread??
