As Hillary Clinton's campaign song........

Are you freakin' serious? :grumpy:

Well, given how tight the U2 / Clinton connection has been over the years ('92 campaign / Zoo TV tour fun; Bono attending White House cabinet meetings during Bill's presidency; U2 playing "One" in DC on new year's eve 2000, and dedicating it to Clinton, all of Bill and Hillary's visits to Bono's house, their work on the Northern Ireland peace initiative, their work on debt relief, Africa, and AIDS, etc. etc.), it doesn't surprise me that U2 is letting Hillary's campaign use their songs.

Pretty crap choices. Smash Mouth? Jesus Jones?

You know one of the U2 songs (probably Beautiful Day - no one knows City of Blinding Lights) will win it.

You also know Hillary has snowflakes chance of being President.

I remember hearing Beautiful Day at John Kerry's convention in 2004. I wanted to kill myself.

This is 100 times worse.

There's also a country standard called "All the Guys that Turn Me On Turn Me Down" which would be appropriate.

I just want Bono to call George Bush every night and harrass him, Zoo TV style, when they're on tour next summer... how great would that be? I can hear it now: "Well, well, well..."

Please God no, U2 throwing their support to yet another socialist liberal!

are you kidding me? how is Hillary Clinton a socialist liberal?
I find it amusing when politicians use songs like "Born in the USA" and "Beautiful Day" for their campaign. I mean seriously, listen to the damn lyrics.

Where's "Come to my window" by Melissa Etheridge? LOL....

I will NEVER vote 4 a U2 song 4 ANY political party/candidate, much less "Mrs." Clinton.

you can't call hill hill a socialist liberal because even she doesn't know what she is. she's a lib on monday, a conservative on tuesday, a moderate on wednesday, a war hawk on thursday, a tree hugging hippy on friday, a southerner on saturday and a new yorker on sunday.

well if election day will be on a friday, then she's got my vote!

I didn't vote for any of the listed. I suggested Rudebox instead. Because TK Maxx costs less.

Uk Labour party also used BD.

Do they really need a band's ok to use a song for a campaign??

If I remember correct, Blair & co didn't ask permission and there was some talk about it, but I don't think they agreed/or disagreed to it being used.

tsk tsk... I'd think you hardcore U2 fans would acknowledge the strong U2-Clinton historical connection, which started back in the summer of '92...

*Bill calling into Rockline radio
*U2 harrassing George Bush every night on tour
* George Bush mocking Bill for taking politicall advice from U2
* Bono and Bill hanging out in Bill's hotel room in Chicago
* U2 teaming up with REM to play at Clinton's inauguration
* Bono attending White House cabinet meetings during the Clinton years
* Bono and Bill teaming up on AIDS / Africa issues
* U2 dedicating "One" to Bill Clinton when playing on the national mall, new year's eve, 2000, in DC
* U2 playing at the dedication of the Clinton presidential library
* Bill dedicating his post-presidency work to debt relief, Africa, and the AIDS epidemic

It's no wonder Hillary put TWO U2 songs on the choice list...

Obama already used COBL when he he threw his hat in the ring in Illinois. I enjoyed hearing that...

But I don't like the idea of a song becoming the official song of any campaign. I don't like politicians messing with my rock and roll. And to mention U2 on the same page as smashmouth is just lousy company. I love BD and I don't enjoy seeing it co-opted by anyone.

I wonder how much that dude from Jesus Jones makes a year off frickin' "Right Here Right Now."

vote for the worst... idol style.

and for the record, the strong U2/Clinton connection was always with Bill. Hillary is a completely different animal.
