Hi everyone,
I contacted the Frank Erwin Center regarding their rules for GA/Heart.
Below is the reply from the Events department. Talking to them on the
phone and also this email confirms that they are really trying to make
this event as good as possible for everyone involved. The area code for
Austin is 512 incase anyone wants the call the # at the bottom of the
message.
Let me know if you're gonna be in Austin; I'd love to hook up with
people.
Take care all,
St?le in Austin
-------
1) No camping out. U.T. officers will turn all campers away from the
parking lots and the actual building property. If they wish to sleep in
their cars on the street, they're on their own and at the mercy of any
Austin police officers who happen up on them.
2) The line can begin forming at 7:00 a.m.
3) The only G.A. entrance will be the southern most set of doors on Red
River. We'll have bicycle barricade running south down the length of the
building, up the steps and back around over the line along the west
terrace planter boxes.
4) There will be no port - a - potties but we'll allow inside restroom
access all day with the exception of 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. when the
building is swept by K-9 units.
5) Bring up whatever to make the day better while standing in line but
if it's a hindrance to other people in line (boomboxes, chaise lounges,
dancing bears, etc.), it'll have to go back to the vehicle. No
backpacks, knapsacks or oversized bags will be allowed in the building
but people will have the opportunity to take these back starting at 4:30
p.m.
6) No saving a spot in line will be allowed unless that person is in
the restroom. No lunch breaks will be allowed. As of today, plans are in
the works with our catering company for possible sales of beverages and
food for those in line but those plans are still not totally solid. My
guess is if it doesn't happen and I can get approval to do so, I'll
check the lines about noon and call a pizza delivery company to try to
get something delivered. My charge for that service will be a slice per
delivered pizza. No anchovies, please.
7) Since there have been reports of counterfeit tickets and we've heard
that will be the case here, we will periodically check tickets in line
as people come up to to ensure the tickets are legit and those patrons
are not wasting their time.
8) Once inside the door, patrons will be issued a band that has to be
worn from that point on. Numbers for the Heart vary from building to
building and / or e-mail to e-mail and / or phone call to phone call
with the most popular number being 300, but our latest capacity in the
Heart per the Fire Marshall is 271. If they make the Heart, patrons will
be issued a 2nd band when they initially leave the Heart. That band will
need to be worn as well. For purposes of safety, the entrance to the
Heart will have a radio with a counter and will be in touch with the Red
River doors and we will possibly slow the line down or hold it
altogether once the Heart begins to reach capacity. To ensure a smooth
traffic flow in and out of the Heart, no one will be allowed out of the
Heart until everyone is in.
9) A zero tolerance policy on aggressive behavior in or out of the
Heart will be in effect and will be enforced.
10) Patrons on the floor will need to present a wristband(s) on their
wrist AND a ticket in order to re-gain admittance back to the floor or
into the Heart.
11) Items not allowed into The Erwin Center for this show include video
cameras, electronic equipment cases, banners, weapons, noisemakers,
recording devices, fireworks, tripods, alcohol, coolers, cans, bottles,
wineskins, food and beverages of ANY kind (water included) and laser
pointers. Fanny packs and purses will be allowed. All bags and / or
purses of any kind will be searched.
12) According to the latest version of the show rider, cameras
(including digital) will be allowed. It is suggested you call 471-4718
the day of the show to confirm this policy.
13) Please feel free to call 471-4718 between the hours of 10:00 a.m.
and 3:00 p.m. and ask for Buzz, Chris or Duane if you have any
questions.
14) Finally, the day of, be patient and most importantly, have fun.
Thanx!!
