Hi...

During the last album we had people help organize people to request the singles to be played on radio stations worldwide.

To help U2 get to #1, we should do this again...

What we need:

a) submit your local radio station name and request line, and request email if they have one.

b) people who want to help organize which radio stations we 'blitz' on which days, and helping to get the word out.

You can reply to this thread if youve got the info or want to help organize.

Here's the link to one Croatian radio (the one that played Vertigo "first"):

http://www.otvoreni.hr

http://www.otvoreni.hr/default.asp?ID=43

That's the link to the top 50 chart. Vertigo is not yet there, probably will be next week, so stay tuned and when you see it, just click on it (just one time a day) and they got your vote! :

http://www.otvoreni.hr/default.asp?ID=67&idcache=1

Here you can fill the form (it says, from the upper box: name, surname, e-mail and your music suggestion)
So, you know which song to ask

That's it for now from Croatia!

In Kansas City:

96.5 The BUZZ - (www) 965thebuzz.com/contactus.asp (I can't post links yet! ) 816-576-7965
97.3 The Planet -
(www) 973theplanet.com/onair/requestLine.asp - 816-576-7973

The Buzz just played an 'all U2 lunch' Sweet!! They're giving away a trip to the opening date on the US tour. And I can't get my freakin' phone to work so I can call in and register.:banghead:

In Tampa:

http://97xonline.com/inside/playlists.html

e-mail link to requests is on the upper right hand side of the page
1-877-327-9797 toll free requests

http://www.933flz.com/music.html
e-mail request address is: requests@933flz.com

also Mix 100.7 - can't find a request line or link, but the music director's e-mail is KristyKnight@clearchannel.com
I e-mailed her last night and got this response:
"Record label will release it to radio in Tampa soon. If it's a hit, I'm sure we'll play it :)

Thanks for listening!

All the above already playing it, but extra requests won't do any harm. the feedback from listeners at Radio 1 was entirely enthusiastic !

BBC radio 2 also played it, twice in a row this evening - almost unheard of for that station!!!

Wow, that sure does bring memories of when this was done back in 2000! I think U2LA was the main organizer and he did a splendid job, yeah!!

Anyhow, my local radio station is www.thebear.fm

There's a link both at the top and on the left of the site which allows you to request songs via email.

There's also a link that enables you to vote out of a selection of songs for their nightly Top 8 at 8 - U2 isn't an option yet but will be soon, I'm sure

their tel. no. is 1-800-754-1069; (local: 750-1069)

Let's DO IT!!!!

I live in New York City! E-mail, call, and bug every radio station you can in every city. Together, we are the most powerful hype machine on the planet!

Everything counts!

Man, if there's just one band in all the world that doesn't need much help to get promotion, its U2.

As much as I love U2, there really isn't any joy in getting them noticed, as they already are.

Now, joining the street team for your favorite underground or indie band on the otherhand, that's a different deal altogether.

But...good luck.

The KROQ DJ out here in L.A. played it at #1 tonight, ahead of Green Day and a lot of others. She said, "Someone called me with a nasty attitude to play it, so here it is nasty man! Vertigo at #1 on the Furious Five." Lol, was that someone on here?

Oh, and I disagree with the previous post... we need to push U2 to #1 to show the youngin's how it's done! Lots of teens out there who have no clue. Gotta get the new generation hooked and stamp U2's legacy for ALL TIME! A bunch of 40-year-olds who rock harder than ever and beat all the new fads! We want to make sure no other band past, present or future will ever touch U2's success: artistic, commercial, cultural, popular... everything! You know how U2 is always in the top 10 of all those "Greatests" lists the magazines put out? We want them to be #1. Undeniably, THE GREATEST BAND EVER!

WE CAN DO IT!

Ah, the good old days of U2LA :)

I live in the Washington DC/VA/MD area. I've already bombarded a DC rock radio stations website with requests. They play Vertigo about every two hours, and thats just not acceptable. I'm going to spread the wealth and hit other ones too.

I'd like to volunteer to do this. Um when should we start?

I'm going to work on finding some info for big cities that haven't been posted yet.

In Australia we have a radio network called Triple J. It's a national network, can be heard everywhere in Australia and it's very, very influential. If it's popular on Triple J it is therefore 'cool'.

They have two shows, 'Super Request' which is on weeknights. It's exactly as it says, a request show. Here's the website, there's a link for online requesting a bit of the way down the page.

http://abc.net.au/triplej/requests/default.htm

They also have a Saturday night show called Net 50. It's their weekly countdown from 50 to 1 as judged by online votes. There are a list of songs you can pick from (Vertigo is not on there now, but I'd predict it'll be on there in a few days) but you can also type in any song you want. Website here...

In Kansas City we have (from BEST to WORST stations) Meaning, The Planet plays U2 all the time and are more open to playing them than say Mix 93.3.

97.3 The Planet
http://www.973theplanet.com
816.576.7973
Online Request Line - http://973theplanet.com/onair/requestLine.asp

96.5 The Buzz
http://www.965thebuzz.com
816.576.7965

Mix 93.3
http://www.mix93.com
816.576.7093
Email song request request@mix93.com

The New E105.1 Retro To Right Now
http://www.1051.com
816.576.7105
For a station that calls themselves "Retro to Right Now", I find it odd that they do not and will not add new songs to their playlists anymore. So in a sense, technicall they are not Right Now. They are more like "Retro to 2000/2001". Still, they did get Vertigo, and they may only play it like once or twice.

Star 102.1
http://www.star102.com
816.576.7102
It's up in the air as to whether Star 102 did in fact get Vertigo and will play it. It's more of a lighter stations (as they play Beautiful Day, Joshua Tree singles, One, Stay and Walk On). But, I was told from a DJ that they are getting it, so who knows.

Saturday is New York Day!!!!!!

Let's hit New York now. If you havhe multiple e-mail addresses e-mail the stations with them so it seems like more people. .. then call!

I'm doing it now.

Indie (888) 4 LA 1031, www.indie1031.fm

I nominate NOT giving these assholes the satisfaction of hearing from us ever again. And I also nominate none of us ever listen to this station again. :|

Anyways here in Halifax there are 2 stations that would play it:

Q104 FM (this is the likely station to play it)
1-902-451-1043 (Studio Hotline direct to the on-air DJ's)
jc@q104.ca (This is JC Douglas' e-mail address, the program director for the station)

C100 FM (more of a Top 40 station but they may play Vertigo)
1-902-453-3120 (Programming hotline)
t.williams@mrg.ca (Terry Williams, Programming Director)
