1. Achtung Baby! ( *****)
2. The Unforgettable Fire ( **** 1/2)
3. The Joshua Tree ( **** 1/2)
4. Rattle & Hum ( ****) Most underrated U2 album, I basically judge this on the studio tracks and they are top notch for the most part.
5. Zooropa (****) Zooropa, Lemon and Stay are up there with U2's finest work, unfortunately Numb, and SDABTO stop this from being higher on the list.
6. All That You Can't Leave Behind ( ****) Beautiful first half to the album, let down by a couple of clunkers on the albums second half.
7. How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb ( ****) Vertigo is their second worst album opener behind Discotheque, otherwise some very good tunes (City Of Blinding Lights is a classic), SYCMIOYO is their best ballad since One). Quite consistent but like ATYCLB good individual tunes but not ver in depth songs and lyrically average. Where was Mercy?
8. War ( ****) - Consistent, but only two great songs - SBS and NYD. Hadn't quite found the classic U2 sound that is discovered on the next album.
9. Boy ( *** 1/2) Album never excited me too much, energetic but immature sound, hints at later greatness. Electric Co and Out Of Control are superb live songs though.
10. Pop ( ***) Overrated. DYFL? is great, Miami however is U2's worst ever song, although pretty nice live. Discotheque is a weak album opener, The Playboy Mansion is average and IYWTVD is poorly produced. Please and Wake Up Deadman are very good however.
11. October ( ***) - Average.

And this forum's lack of love for the beauty of Passengers is sad.
Passengers is NOT a U2 album. If so, at least it is not marketed as a U2 album. That's why many people do not count it.

Agree about Vertigo, COBL or LAPOE should be opening the album.
Disagree about Discotheque. It is a great opener and the fluence between Discotheque->DYFL->MoFo is perfect.

Discotheque sounds better without the swirl intro.

I'd prefer this Pop intro:

MOFO
Discotheque (w/o swirls)
Do You Feel Loved

MOFO is just the best thing since sliced bread.
