As inspired by a comment in one of the Zooropa threads (apparently Zooropa is sleep inducing? the alarm would wake me back up), I was curious to see if anyone else here made a "sleepy/bedtime" mix of U2 songs to help them drift off...

I generally find that most of the closing songs on the albums are good for relaxing/calming down, but here's a few songs I know I have on a sleep mix somewhere:

MLK
Grace
Love is Blindness
One Tree Hill (it's the end that does it)
One Step Closer
October
If God Will Send His Angels

Etc etc... of course, I find that some nights, I'd rather sing along than go to sleep

So... anyone else? :hmm:

When I try sleeping to U2, it's like you said about wanting to sing along... I get all distracted and start reading U2ey books and watching U2 documentaries... it's intoxicating :drunk:

It doesn't help that I'm something of an insomniac, either.

Here's my list:

October
Running to Stand Still
The Ocean
The Unforgettable Fire
40
Heartland
MLK

heres some of my favorite sleepy-time u2 songs...

can't help falling in love (triple peaks mix)
grace
when i look at the world
40
if god will send his angels
if you wear that velvet dress (lol, some tasty bono dreams, lol)
zooropa
stay
love rescue me
she's a mystery
satellite of love
angel of harlem.. (not sure why...)
MLK
one tree hill
bass trap

Yes, "can't help falling in love" is so beautiful!
And Bono's voice just fills up my heart with love when I listen to it.. I listened to this song for hours, when my mom died this November. I couldn't sleep, so I listened to it practically all night :)

i like that list Y2K.
i've made a few nighttime mixes with other bands - 'scarlet' consistently makes the cut. i fucking love that song.
'mothers of the disappeared' has a dreamstate, otherworldly quality to it.
i like 'tryin to throw your arms...' on this list, it also exists somewhere between reality and unconsciousness - smooths the transition to sleep...
gotta love 'your blue room' and 'stateless', too. more ambient soundscapes, interesting and soothing sounds.
for some reason i like 'alex descends into hell for a bottle of milk/korova1' for this purpose, it's not entirely soothing, but it's incredibly surreal.
for me it's less about 'quietness' and more about the atmosphere of a song.

The whole couple of minutes from An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart where it's just intrumental. That is always slow and soothing to me. the little bell ringing at one point, and the low chiming guitar. good sleep music, wish it went on longer.

my bedtime mix/playlist:

MLK
Promenade
Bad
With or Without You
Luminous Times
Your Blue Room
Love Comes Tumbling
Elvis Presley and America
"40"
The Wanderer
One Tree Hill
Heartland
Ave Maria
Scarlet
Running To Stand Still
The Ocean
October
Mothers of the Disappeared

and a few more.
strangely I have two playlists. one for the more "tiresome/slumber" type and another just to settle me nicely into dreams. :)

All of Unforgettable Fire until I fall asleep...especially MLK.

Hey, Edgy: Hope you are doing well: Can't Help Falling in Love, just slays me.:combust:

Well, yeah... I'm still alive :)

Me too!!! :combust: I ruin the song by trying to get as high as Bono, so don't stay near me when i listen to it on my ipod..

What about Miss Sarajevo?

Ooh, as much as I love that song, I could never listen to it before bed, because I try (and fail) to sing along with the opera bit.

I am so so happy that song got worked in this tour. (And it makes me secretly want a Bono opera album... )

I've been thinking about making a mostly-U2 "Relaxing Mix." This helps alot. Except I've never heard "Can't Help Falling in Love." I'll have to go download it somewhere.
