U2 song pulled form radio....

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Ok... this is taking things a bit too far.

Does anyone else wonder... if songs like these are being censored can they "please" stop playing the songs with all the media soundbites threaded in? Sure, it's a nice tribute, but I personally cant listen to them anymore, it's so sad hearing those phone calls from the airplanes etc... does anyone else feel this way?

Lyrics like "Broken bottles under children's feet

Tonight...' and 'The real battle just begun
To claim the victory Jesus won
On...'

Nicamom,

In the last two lines of SBS I think U2 is trying to point out that the North Ireland/Ireland conflict has religious roots, and that it's absurd for anyone to fight `in the name of Jesus'. (North Ireland=Anglican, Ireland=Catholic, I believe)

I suppose the children's nursery rhyme that ends with "ashes, ashes, we all fall down" will have to be banned as well?

Pure 1950s crap.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for someone is to just tell them to fuck off. I am told to fuck off rather a lot by these three gentlemen.

Thankfully Clear Channel doesn't own all the radio channels. As I write this the (local) station here in Rotterdam, the Netherlands is playing SBS. Phew!

They have recordings of the phone calls from the planes? And they used them as clips in U2 songs?

I have to say I never want to hear that. I've thought enough about how those people in the planes must have felt.

Music Radio stations sucks ( at least 90 % of them )
.. and always will
It will be sad if some people ( FBI , Military , Republicans whoever ) , instead of fighting with EviL ,will use this moment as fight for political power or even fighting with law and freedom

Funny , as i know 'Another One Bites The Dust ' was one of the most popular Queen single in America so far

Some Highlights from the list

Queen ' killer queen '
Led Zeppelin ' Stairway to Heaven '
Louis Armstrong ' What A Wonderful World '
John Lennon ' imagine '

And what to think about these:

All Rage Against The Machine songs
Pat Benatar "Love is a Battlefield" (I mean, LOVE is a battlefield, not a building)
Bangles "Walk Like an Egyptian"
The Beatles "Obla Di, Obla Da" (Life goes on)
Peter Paul and Mary "Blowin' in the Wind" (yes, the Bob Dylan song)
Simon And Garfunkel "Bridge Over Troubled Water"
Three Degrees "When Will I See You Again" (Bono sang a snippet of this after One after his father died)
Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under the Bridge"
Smashing Pumpkins "Bullet With Butterfly Wings"
Edwin Starr/Bruce Springstein "War" (HUH! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!)

And as Ivan had already pointed out: Imagine?

Films , Music should be different , in every way , all this TV-PG stuff is alright , but when the release of 'Fight club' was almost stopped....

If Clear Channel is indeed pulling these songs from their playlists, then there's only one course of action: Boycott their stations!

I'm not certain if U2 will pull songs like SBS and BTBS from their setlists, but they might add more songs which might be more relevant to the situation like Please, Peace On Earth or The Unforgettable Fire. If there's ever a band that could handle a crisis like this, it's U2! We are fortunate to have their music to help us along during these tragic circumstances.

I really find it difficult to believe that Clear Channel has pulled The Beatles. What are they thinking? The Beatles were/are all about Peace and Love. All you need is love.
