From WENN:

U2 To Go Ahead With American Dates
September 17, 2001

Irish supergroup U2 plan to go ahead with their
American tour next month -- despite the terrorist
atrocities there.

The band are currently on holiday, but a friend of
the band says that the tour is to continue as
planned, with a decision about New York dates to
be made in the near future.

The pal adds, "Obviously, the New York shows are a
huge consideration and there are two ways of
looking at the situation. Do we run the risk of
being insensitive and go ahead with the New York
shows? Or by cancelling are we giving in to
terrorism?"

I hope they are able to go ahead w/ all shows. Who knows what the future holds? But we sure could all use some live U2 right now.

I would just want to be sure that they would be competely safe, traveling in that plane.

I think they would try to stay on the ground as much as possible.

That's my point of view, if U2 cancels the shows it would be like giving in to terrorism.
Sarajevo's concert comes to mind also, U2 helped with the healing process there, it would be the same for New Yorkers.

Do you think the tickets that were supposed to go on sale last weekend will go on sale this weekend? Any info about that yet?

I checked the Providence civic center site and they indicate tickets will go on sale Sept. 29th, so I imagine all others that were scheduled for Sept. 15th will be the 29th as well.

I'm glad to hear that. U2, being Irish, have lived with the reality and tragedy of terrorism all their lives. I'm sure they will do the right thing. They don't have to worry about Elevation Air being hijacked, they know who is supposed to be on it, just anybody can't buy a ticket to ride. If they are not afraid to be inside an arena filled with thousands of people, neither will I. Thanks guys.
