Hi my friend doesn't know much U2 but since we're in a band together is well aware of how big a fan I am of them  one day he listened to 'Lady with the Spinning Head (Extended Dance Mix)' and was slightly less-than-impressed but still asked me to make him a U2 CD to see what he thought of it!

I complained there's way too much to fit onto one CD and managed to convince him to let me make two discs (one for 1980-1990 and one for 1990-2000 as I know damn well he hates vertigo and the rest of the '...Atomic Bomb' he's had the "pleasure" of hearing so have left out said album!)

NOW TO THE POINT I've selected the following 16 tracks and am trying to put them in a decent running order.

1. Zooropa
2. MOFO (Live - either MTV Europe Awards '97 or Mexico City)
3. One
4. Discotheque
5. The Fly
6. Until the End of the World
7. Your Blue Room
8. Last Night on Earth
-
9. Even Better than the Real Thing
10. Lemon
11. Elevation
12. Numb
13. Gone (New Mix from Best of 90-00)
14. Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car
15. Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
16. Wake Up Dead Man

bear in mind the song choices are pretty much set in stone! The only ATYCLB song he likes is Elevation so Beautiful Day etc. are not options :p I may have missed one obvious choice so someone point it out i guess?

The problem i'm having with the tracklisting is I'm trying to keep it in two 'SIDES' but the last few tracks on "side two" don't really seem to be in the right order.

I think with the tracks like 'Daddy's Gonna Pay...' and 'Hold Me...' they seem like sort of "BIG(ger)" tracks if you know what I mean and i usually like those sort in the hallowed penultimate spot before the final one brings it to a close but having them both there seems a bit odd in terms of flow... is this making any sense to anyone?

any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated, see what you think?

This was tough. You have a lot of heavy hitters and not too many slower songs...so I had a little harder of a time balancing the flow. My only suggestion would be to use the original version of "Gone" and not the new mix. But here's what I got:

1. Even Better Than the Real Thing
2. Elevation
3. One
4. Gone
5. Lemon
6. The Fly
7. Zooropa
8. Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me
9. Until the End of the World
10. Numb
11. Discotheque
12. Your Blue Room
13. MOFO
14. Last Night on Earth
15. Daddy’s Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car
16. Wake Up Dead Man

here's my suggestion. i too suggest going with the original version of gone and not the new mix, but here it is based on what you said:

1. zooropa
2. even better than the real thing
3. one
4. your blue room
5. lemon
6. the fly
7. elevation
8. until the end of the world
-
9. discotheque
10. mofo (mtv europe awards)
11. hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me
12. daddy's gonna pay for your crashed car
13. last night on earth
14. numb
15. gone (new mix)
16. wake up dead man

i think this works :hmm:

I should make a living out of this

FUCK I forgot Acrobat!! I've honestly no idea how i could have forgotten about it!

The comment about having a lot of heavy hitters is right i'll agree! It's made me think about some of the song choices so I may go and replace a few! Thanks for the help so far guys, Khanada's I liked a lot! :D I wouldn't have moved Zooropa either! Thanks everyone.

On another note POP is always a strange album to me in the fact that I think of it as a bad album despite the fact that when I'm in the right mood it makes a great listen! But anyway my point is, I was really surprised POP got the most songs on my list in either studio/live form!

Back with a remade list soon I think, thank you very much dunno why I didn't ask earlier! :)

there...

hmm i've removed Numb because i already sent it to my friend so what's the point in putting it on the disc. I've removed MOFO (and cut my wrists soon afterwards ) simply to free up space for another couple of songs.

MOFO would have been awesome as it's one of my personal 90's favourites but as Lemon95 said this disc is a little too 'heavy' with few softer songs so here is my new tracklisting with some tracks added/removed. Any suggestions welcome.

1. Zooropa
2. Even Better than the Real Thing
3. One
4. Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
5. Your Blue Room
6. The Fly
7. Last Night on Earth (Live in Mexico City)
8. Stay (Faraway, So Close!)

9. Discotheque
10. The First Time
11. Elevation
12. Lemon
13. Gone (Old/New Mix - who knows! I'm torn between the original and Edge's backing vocals on the newer mix)
14. Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car
15. Acrobat
16. Wake Up Dead Man

:)
