u2 best song survivor: boy round 2

last round, we had a huge turnout! the fool was the first casualty, receiving a whopping two votes!

the votes:
street mission - 1
shadows and tall trees (demo) - 1
the fool - 2
boy/girl - 1
twilight (original version) - 1

this survivor is in many ways the same as previous survivors. you will be voting off your least favourite out of all songs listed. however, this will be done by email only. any votes made in here or by any other method will not be counted.

as for voting, please pick your least favourite out of the following list. when deciding your vote, please base it off the studio recording. no live songs are allowed (aside from two shots of happy, one shot of sad). if the song is a remix, it will be stated. otherwise, assume we are going off the original studio release.

please mail all votes to u2survivor@gmail.com - please put the round (in this instance, boy round 1) in the title of the email so i'll know which round you're voting for. that's the only requirement for the email. well, that and obviously i need to know what you want voted off! and this should go without saying, but only one email per person. if i find out someone is using multiple email addresses (and i can find out) in each round, all votes you submitted for the round will be null and void. if i see continued abuse, i will disqualify all your votes. i hope this won't happen though!

also, while i would prefer you not post in this thread to say what you voted, it's not forbidden or anything. i would just like the voting to stay as impartial as possible.

Would it perhaps be better to run this as a "vote for favourites" kind of deal, one round an era, with the top song(s) proceeding? Or something else quicker along those lines.

It seems people are really lazy and won't participate if there isn't a handy little poll to click. Do you remember the first edition of Survivor, when everybody posted their vote in the thread and the votes were manually tallied? We couldn't even manage 50 votes in the GRAND FINAL between Streets and One.

for now i'll at least keep it like this to see if turnout improves. if not though, i might change it. though for sure any future versions (if i decide to run one after songs of ascent and the remastered tuf come out) i'll be doing it that way. i knew turnout would be low, but i didn't think i'd only get six votes (including my vote)!

So in any round, what if you get a total of say 6 votes and they are all for different songs at 1 vote each, will you eliminate all 6 songs in a tie?

Also by posting the totals for all the songs that received votes above, instead of just the song that was eliminated you may be helping someone decide what to vote in the next round by seeing what the poll results are, sort of what you wanted to avoid by doing it this way.

You should work towards the middle, having both favorite and least favorites for each round.

this is i think the best way to do it by email, i'm not taking part because yes, i can't really be bothered. i think one single round, and then maybe round by round emails for finals would work well.
