I'm a bit out of the loop on this so be gentle if it has been discussed. What's the latest on it? Is it coming out this year? Next year? 2010?

Here's an article that says it is due in January 2008.

Critic's choice: 'U2 3D'

September 7, 2007

You feel you can high-five Bono in the superb concert film U2 3D, a breakthrough in multiple-camera digital-3D production. The fluid density and immediacy of the imagery and the sound surround you in rock poetry.

With clarity and artistry, Catherine Owen, the visual content provider for the band, seizes the directorial reins during the Latin American leg of the group's Vertigo tour, and crafts each number into a human mobile. During "The Fly," when Bono sings, "It's no secret that the stars are falling from the sky," digitally animated letters cascade down like thousands of colored shooting stars.

Some Baltimore names pooled their expertise for this film, including Baltimore County resident David Modell (formerly chief of the Ravens organization), an executive producer; his L.A.-based brother John, a producer; and Baltimore-born Mark Pellington, a co-director with Owen. A 55-minute version was greeted ecstatically at Cannes; David Modell promises that an 80-90 minute version will make its premiere in January 2008.

Sundance is in January...

Gah, I wish this weren't pushed back. Who knows, maybe it'll end up being pushed back until the next album is about to come out.
