Hey, Brau, I used to think I was more of a stuck-up wanker about music taste than you. But you've proven me wrong with the way you've spammed this thread.

I didn't spam.

I engaged the entire group. So nobody feels left out.

You made far too many posts when you could have put multiple quotes into one.

And you didn't respond to me slagging off One.

Dirty Day is such a stinker, you get points for simply listing it.

Live I think it's great though, so if you disagree with me, remove my points. You didn't even address the rest of my post!

I think I'll do one from each album.

1. Shadows and Tall Trees
2. With A Shout (Jerusalem)
3. Like A Song
4. A Sort of Homecoming
5. Red Hill Mining Town
6. Love Rescue Me
7. Love Is Blindness
8. The Wanderer
9. Wake Up Dead Man
10. Grace
12. Yahweh

Just for MrBrau:

1. One: everyone knows what I think about this already.
2. Mercy: see above.
3. In A Little While: I can't believe some people on this forum actually like this.
4. Ultra Violet: see above. I'm surprised the Backstreet Boys never covered this.
5. Xanax And Wine: the true great HTDAAB out-take is Smile. Fast Cars is more musically interesting than XAW anyway.

You get an F-.

On this board: Mercy

Besides that, Pride, Beautiful Day and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For take the cake.

New Year's Day
Pride
Streets (live only, studio is solid)
ISHFWILF
Even Better Than The Real Thing
Mysterious Ways

I know you don't like the "baby, baby, baby"s but:

I remember
When we could sleep on stones
Now we lie together
In whispers and moans
When I was all messed up
And I had opera in my head
Your love was a light bulb
Hanging over my bed

probably one of my favorite verses in a U2 song.

Mercy, I can see that.

In a Little While, it's a nice little song, nothing more.

Xanax is a fun song too, but yes, Fast Cars is better.

I'm not even going to talk about One.

1. Beautiful Day
2. City of Blinding Lights
3. Vertigo
4. Elevation
5. Mercy (on Interference at least)

(Waits for inevitable snit fit from Brau).

1. Mercy (no explanation needed)
2. Acrobat (good song, but musically it does so little that it doesn't deserve the status it has among fans)
3. Please (really good song, but it's status here must be based on the live version alone because the album version is just good not great)
4. Gone (only explanation for the way people here talk about this song must be the live version, but then it's still overblown)
5. Ultraviolet (with a chorus like that you don't deserve much praise)

I'm not sure Bullet is overated really, its the band who are in love with it rather than the fans

Ya, none of the fans really like it that much.

Hogwash!!!

It's only been a highlight of the live show since 1987!!!

That song does have some good lines, but I'm not much of a fan of the ones you quoted, especially not "your love was a lightbulb hanging over my bed". That's nearly as bad as the infamous "freedom has a scent" line.

Xanax is a fun song too, but yes, Fast Cars is better.

Yeah, I don't actually have a problem with Xanax And Wine, it's not a bad song, but I don't understand why people harp on about it so much and rate it higher than Fast Cars. It may have a few better lyrics, but overall, Fast Cars is a whole lot more interesting.
