Vodka Stirs Up Grammy Smiles
By Jane Stevenson
U2's Canadian producer Daniel Lanois has spilled the beans as to why
the Irish band seemed so giddy on Grammy night this year, when they
picked up four awards.
Lanois, who himself won another Grammy that night and picked up two
Juno Awards himself last weekend in St. John's, Nfld., told The Sun
that it had to do with their choice of beverage.
"We were celebrating right in the seats," Lanois said. "We had our
Evian water bottles, but they were all vodka."
"Yeah, that's the modern trickery. Everybody walks around with a bottle
of water these days so you can walk through even the most strong-armed
guards if you've got a water bottle. But we had our vodka in there."
