phillyfan: if you're reading this, this is how i do mine. at first, i didn't think it would work because the quality would be a little worse, but ntalwar said it was usable, so i went ahead and did it, since i couldn't use my mic because it had too much staticy noise.
i record my part as a movie file on my camera, and then i go to Adobe Premiere (it's a video editing program) and then I import it. then I just export as a .wav instead of a video file.
