I am so tempted to get the download link for this but I am gonna wait til I get the release(like waiting for Christmas) I am glad to hear mostly positive for the extra stuff.

Very cool song. It feels like a b-side though and as some have suggested doesn't really have a perfect place on the album.

Life begins with the first glance
The first kiss and the first dance
All of us wondering why we are here
In the crystal ballroom underneath the chandelier

Wet the glass until the glasses sing
We punish our hearts 'til the heart bells ring
Cos' where we come from we're not always kind
The human soul is what love leaves behind

We're the ghosts of love and we haunt this place
We're the ghosts of love in every face
In the ballroom of the crystal light
Everyone is here with me tonight
Every...one.. but you

Our first chance is their last dance
Our life is shaped by another's hands
Buttoning and unbuttoning a cold cold dress
Stopping and unstopping every cold caress

Born for bliss born for this
Every human life begins with a kiss
A kiss by every kind of possibility
And everyone is here tonight with me

We're the ghosts of love and we haunt this place
We're the ghosts of love in every face
In the ballroom of the crystal light
Everyone is here with me tonight
Every...one.. but you

Pretty close, minor changes according to the booklet:

Life begins with the first glance
The first kiss at the first dance
All of us are wondering why we're here
In the crystal ballroom underneath the chandelier

Wet the glass till the glasses sing
We punish our hearts till the heart bells ring
Cos where we come from we're not always kind
The human story is what love leaves behind

We're the ghosts of love and we haunt this place
We're the ghosts of love in every face
In the ballroom of the crystal lights
Everyone is here with me tonight
Everyone but you

Our first chance is their last dance
Our life is shaped by another's hands
Buttoning unbuttoning her Coco dress
Stopping and unstopping every cold caress

Born for bliss, born for this
Every human life begins with a kiss
Kissed by every kind of possibility
And everyone is here tonight with me

We're the ghosts of love and we haunt this place
We're the ghosts of love in every face
In the ballroom of the crystal lights
Everyone is here with me tonight
Everyone but you
Everyone but you

I'm really enjoying this song, although (for now) I think it was a good decision to keep it as b-side/bonus material.
One of the aspects that makes me like this song is that I listen to the 12" Mix and I never get the feeling that the song is 50% longer than the shorter version, in fact, if you're just listening without paying much attention, when it gets to the end, you almost don't notice that the song is over and that it was way longer than the 4 minute version.

Why oh why didn't they just trust in the DM direction? Enjoying SoI greatly, but this direction actually feels more natural for them right now than the forced Pop/Rock.

I'd much prefer this on the Apple ad being broadcast to millions. It would have done them much more justice and many more favours. It's not as if Miracle will be a huge cross over hit anyway.

This rocks and funks! More more more! Edge does Carlos Santana, Adam kicking it with his bass, sexy vocals, sweet drums.

PLEASE boys, make this your new single. I know you're gonna go w/ Every Breaking Wave, but you already did The Miracle, so I'm asking, PLEASE TCB!!!

Oh, and need music video of this pronto!!

OK, thanks!

Merry Christmas to you too!

Oh, wait. I want your time machine too. No way are you all in your 50s!! :sexywink:

:up::up::up:

Good b-side.
Chorus is a bit weak and I don't think Bono's vocals suit the song that well (that could just be because I keep expecting James Mercer to start singing).

I'm really in love with the second disc of this album.

I want Crystal Ballroom to be the 4th single.

I agree with you, after numerous listens of CD2, this is the one and only standout, CD1 should have had 12 tracks.

This wouldn't make a good first single, I think singles should be as follows:

1: Miracle
2: Every Breaking Wave
3: Troubles
4: Crystal Ballroom

The first 2 represent U2 is back, the last 2 will get the album noticed again and give it longevity prior to SOE release.

The song gets better and better with every listen. It´s really EXTRAORDINARY song. Strong influence of Daft Punk´s Get Lucky. Hook of the refrain is F*cking gorgeous. I only wish Bono would sing the verses more cool, he sounds wee bit tired.

But, WTF happened to the Edge??? While his songwriting is at his peak, his guitar attitude is at his lowest point? This is the best example. I had hard time to get all over his generic hard rock 70´s guitar riffs and now in this song HE IS TRYING TO IMITATE SANTANA or what??? So uninspiring and tacky. From the man who led the band for 35 years with his innovative and distinctive guitar style. What happened? He aspires for getting hired by some random tribute band?
