Can't watch the video because of my location, but yeah i seem to recall it was an interview about the musical, so that's probably it.

Maybe he did say all that as a joke, maybe i read it the wrong way... but i thought it was telling that after months of implying lots of work had been done (i think paul mcguiness said the album was already at the stage of getting finishing touches or something), bono was now saying the tunes were still in early stages.
