On another post it was brought up that there are some songs that our children when they were babies could fall asleep to. For my oldest daughter it was Miss Sarajevo. Id cradle her in my arms and put it on then sway back and forth and she would be out before Luciano would come in the song. Just curious if anyone else has songs that helped them out for their babies.

For my hyper active little brother, who wouldn't sit still for more than 3 seconds at five months old, I used to rock him to "Satellite of Love" and he used to fall asleep!

It did the trick every time. And to other songs he'd cry and squirm until I gave up.

When I was in America in the summer, I would sing U2 songs to my little brother (he's 5) to help him sleep at nite - 'Stuck In A Moment' and 'Walk On'... 'Walk On' became our little song, I adopted it as my message to him, as we live so far apart.

Did you remember to tell him not to try to Walk On to England? That could be dangerous for a 5 year old.

given his intellect (or lack of it), I can see him trying it.

I don't have a child but I do have a prairie dog. When prairie dogs are babies they are just like human babies, they wake up crying every hour needing to be fed, or they're scared, or just want to be held. Clementine is the sweetest thing, but when he was a baby he was about to drive me nuts. One night he was screaming, so I put in ATYCLB and 'In a Little While' came on and Clementine just fell asleep. I had never seen him do that before. Once the song was over he woke up and started screaming again, so I just had the cd repeat the song and that was the first time that he slept through the entire night. Clementine is going to be 2 years old on May 10th, and to this day if I put on that song he falls asleep right away.

Oh and by the way, yes Clementine is a girls name...I know. It is very hard to tell the sex of a prairie dog. I had a prairie dog expert send some pics of prairie dogs 'personal parts' so I could tell what his sex was. My family called it prairie dog porn. I think because of me calling him Clementine and going 'come here girl' for a year, I believe that I have a confused prairie dog. He will stare at the t.v. screen when I have one of my U2 dvds in and bark everytime he sees Bono or Larry. I know one thing, I have a prairie dog with good taste in men.

You have a prairie dog? That is so cool! I've had just about every pet, but not a prairie dog!

I tried to get the kids I nannied to listen to U2 but they always turned mine off and put on some bubble gum pop rock. Their loss

My younger son is two, and he loves All I Want Is You. I used to sing it to him every night, sitting in the rocking chair in his bedroom. Now, when he hears it on the CD player, he recognizes it immediately as "the song Daddy sings to me in my room". Guess my singing isn't that bad, eh?

I used to play the melodies to Love Rescue Me and Stay (Boston acoustic) on my guitar get my kids to sleep.

Just in case anyone doesn't know what a prairie dog is:
Here is baby Clementine
