This is not a negative thread. In addition to all the singles U2 released from each album, which track do you think should've been a single?

JT- RED HILL MINING TOWN!!! WILL WE EVER SEE THE VIDEO??

RH- Heartland (Great song!)

Achtung Baby- Until the end of the world (A bigger hit then most of the singles anyway)

Zooropa- Some days are better than others (could've been popular, I think.)

POP- GONE GONE GONE GONE GONE GONE GONE GONE GONE!!

ATYCLB- KITE KITE KITE KITE KITE KITE KITE KITE KITE KITE KITE!!

Boy: The Electric Co.

AB: Ultraviolet

Zooropa: Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car

POP: Gone

ATYCLB: Kite

I'm going to throw in my vote for You're So Cruel, When I Look At The World, and Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around the World.

There are more but I'm too tired to think.

Boy - Stories for Boys (if that doesn't count, then Another Time Another Place)
October - I Fall Down
War - Drowning Man
UF - A Sort of Homecoming
The Joshua Tree - Running to Stand Still
R&H - Heartland
AB - Until the End of the World or Ultraviolet
Zooropa - The First Time
Pop - Do You Feel Loved?
ATYCLB - Kite

Boy- A day without me

October- Tomorow

War- Refugee

Unforgetable- Wire

Joshua Tree- One tree hill

Rattle and Hum- Hawkmoon 269

Achtung- So Cruel

Zooropa- Zooropa

Pop- Gone

ATYCLB- In a little While

JT - Red Hill Mining Town

POP - Do You Feel Loved? (instead of Last Night On Earth or Please)

ATYCLB - In A Little While (haven't met anyone who didn't like this song)

R&H - Heartland (instead of When Love Comes To Town)

Cheers,

J

Rattle and Hum (pretty much every new song was a single except 3 or 4 of the 8) - Heartland
Achtung Baby - Ultra Violet
Zooropa - Zooropa (edit)
POP - Do You Feel Loved (I would have loved IFWTVD to eb a single. how sexy of a song)
ATYCLB - I don't really think any of the rest of the songs on this should have been singles, but if I had to choose I'd say Kite

And the song that was never a single that should have been: The Ground Beneath Her Feet. That song is simply amazing.

I'm keeping in mind single potential songs, here, and not just "hidden gems":

Boy - Electric Co
October - I Fall Down
War - Seconds
The Unforgettable Fire - Bad
The Joshua Tree - One Tree Hill; also Red Hill Mining Town
Rattle & Hum - God Part II (Heartland is a better song, just not as "single" oriented)
Achtung Baby - So Cruel (would have been tremendous - in a 'Nothing Comares 2 U' kind of way)
Zooropa - Some Days Are Better Than Others (very catchy tune)
Pop - The Playboy Mansion (top 40 material); also Gone
Passengers - Your Blue Room (the alt stations may have like it)
ATYCLB - Wild Honey (this would have been HUGE); also Kite and In A Little While

UF - Bad
JT - RTSS
AB - Acrobat instead of WGRYWH
Zoo - Zooropa instead of Numb
Pop - Gone instead of any of them
ATYCLB - NY instead of Elevation

And I would have liked to see a re-worked song like "Luminous Times" instead of the "Sweetest Thing"

Wasn't Kite a single? A video was released for it...

Boy: An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart AND The Electric Co.
October: This is the only album I don't own (yet) so I haven't heard anything but the singles yet!
War: Seconds (!!!)
The Unforgettable Fire: Wire
The Joshua Tree: Red Hill Mining Town AND Running to Stand Still

Passengers: Your Blue Room
POP: Gone (!!!)
All That You Can't Leave Behind: New York

Boy - Twilight
October - Tomorrow
War - Like A Song
UF - Bad .. Wire

Ohhhhh...But it wasn't released as a single, was it?
No, technically, it wasn't released as a single. However, radio in Canada played it all the time to coincide with the video (at least it did in Vancouver, and if you ask Skeek, I think he said the same for Toronto). If you want to get really technical though, there were no US singles for ATYCLB at all. In Canada, yes, but not in the States for whatever reason. American radio was given promo copies to play on air, but that's the closest thing America got to having singles. Odd, hey? I think if American radio started playing 'Wild Honey' it would have been a massive "single".

But then, of course, there were the videos for BD, Walk On, and Stuck... here in the states...and you could buy the import singles.
