God Part II

Don't believe the devil
I don't believe his book
But the truth is not the same
Without the lies he made up
I don't believe in excess
Success is to give
I don't believe in riches
But you should see where I live
I believe in love

Don't believe in forced entry
I don't believe in rape
But everytime she passes by
Wild thoughts escape
I don't believe in deathrow
Skidrow or the gangs
Don't believe in the Uzi
It just went off in my hand
I believe in love

Dont' believe in cocaine
I got a speeball in my head
I could cut and crack you open
Did you hear what I said
Don't believe them
When they tell me there ain't no cure
The rich stay healthy
The sick stay poor
I believe in love

I don't believe in Goldman
His type like a curse
Instant karma's gonna get him
If I don't get him first
I don't believe that rock'n'roll
Can really change the world
As it spins in revolution
Spirals and turns
I believe in love

I don't believe in the '60s
In the golden age of pop
You glorify the past
When the future dries up
I heard a singer on the radio
Late last night
Says he's gonna kick the darkness
Till it bleeds daylight
I believe in love

I feel like I'm falling
Like I'm spinning on a wheel
It always stops beside a name
A presence I can feel
I believe in love

i ahve been hooked ont his song multiple times, and i love it live

especially when used as opener

Best song on R&H i think. its funky, it rocks and the lyrics are great.

Indeed.
Most of U2's next to last songs on their albums are my favourite (Exit, God Part II, Acrobat, Please). And yes, God Part II is their next to last studio song in Rattle And Hum.

The link between '80's U2 and '90's U2.

I hear that. Just listen to God Part II, then The Fly right after that.

The timing of the lyrics syncs up really well between the two songs to the point you can interchange lines between them.

Bono said they had to dream it all up again, but it had already begun before that infamous quote and God Part II is evidence of that.

I love this song too. I love these lyrics because they're just so dark and different..

Don't believe in forced entry
I don't believe in rape
But everytime she passes by
Wild thoughts escape

Never mind Gone (boring) or Please (super boring), this is THE song U2 needs to bring back this tour. God Part II kicks buttocks.

GOD Part II is the father of U2s best songs ever:
acrobat:rockon:, the fly:rockon:. uteotw:rockon:
god part II is in my top 10 of U2

Now THAT would be something! I've recently gone through 'God Part II' OVERLOAD and heard loads of live performances and would just love to hear them play this again!

"Night & Day" could also be said as the link from 80s-90's, i know its a cover but still

Agreed, I was saying that earlier to someone. I think God Part II and Night & Day are the two bridges that led from the 80's to the 90's, you can hear elements of both eras in the songs.

God Part II is friggin awesome, so awesome that I bought it from iTunes 'cause I couldn't get it to copy from my old scratched RH CD properly! It's one of the "heavier" U2 songs and I would LOVE to see it live (though, Gone and Please, boring? :eyebrow: )
